Maya laughed. He and his cliché romantic dialogues these days were enough to prove he had madly fallen for her.

Maya gently lifted Ranveer's collar and smoothed it before taking the two ends of the tie in her hands. She stood close, inhaling his spicy scent as her fingers worked deftly on the knot. Ranveer's gaze remained fixed on her face. He loved watching her brow furrow adorably in concentration as she looped and twisted the silk fabric. Her fingers sometimes brushed against his chest, sending pleasant tingles through him. While Ranveer’s eyes were busy on her face, his fingers played with her silky hair. This felt like home as it never had before. He now had all he secretly desired, especially his wife.

When she had finished the knot, Maya lingered, playing with the end of the tie. She wanted to delay his departure even if just for a few more moments.

Ranveer wrapped his hands around hers, stilling her movements. As she looked up, he dipped his head and captured her lips in a slow, deep kiss. Maya melted against him, her grip tightening on his neatly ironed shirt.

All too soon Ranveer pulled back, resting his forehead against hers. “I really have to go now,” he murmured regretfully.

Maya sighed, her fingers reaching up to caress his stubbled jaw. “Come back soon,” she whispered. Ranveer turned his head to press a kiss to her palm.

“Miss me,” he demanded.

“No doubt.”

Stepping away reluctantly, he gave her a lingering glance before leaving. Maya hugged herself, already missing his presence. She couldn't wait for him to return so she could be back in his arms.

*************

It was late morning, and Maya was still wondering when Ranveer would return so that she could speak to him about Kunal and his devious plans of hurting Ranveer. She just hoped he would take it all maturely without being angry with her for even hiding it for so long.

Laura knocked at her bedroom door and entered inside.

“Ma'am, Advocate Sinha has come to see you,” Laura informed.

“Who is Advocate Sinha? I don’t know him,” Maya responded.

“He is Dev Malik’s deceased wife’s advocate,” Laura explained.

Dev Malik’s wife? That meant Ranveer’s mother. Maya quickly instructed Laura to send the advocate in. The man introduced himself and then took his seat before Maya.

“Ranveer isn’t home, if you want to talk to him. But I can pass him your message,” Maya offered.

“That’s not required,” Sinha replied. “I am not here for him, but you.”

“Me?”

“Yes.” He removed a file from his bag and handed it over to Maya. “I need your signatures here.”

“What is this?”

“It’s Ranveer’s mother’s Will. She had made it just two days before her accident.”

“A Will? Ranveer’s mother had made a Will?”

“Yes, Ma’am. Once your signatures are done, I will send it further for processing.”

“Wait, why do I need to sign this? What does it have to do with me?”

“My client, Ranveer’s mother, had transferred all her property to whoever Ranveer marries in the future, and that being you, now we are in dire urgency to get this done.”

“But Ranveer never told me anything about this.”

“Probably, that skipped his mind,” Sinha suggested as he handed her the pen to sign. Maya hesitated.

“I will have to take this up with Ranveer today, and then we will get back to you,” she declared.

“We don’t have much time, Ma’am. This property is already under dispute, and if we delay, it might end up going into the wrong hands.”
