“How do you know I am diabetic?” he asked.

“Daadi,” she murmured and then concentrated back on the screen. Ranveer smirked and watched the screen as the movie began. It’s a cartoon movie – A Jungle Story. Ranveer had no clue of it until it began. He turned to Dhruv, who smiled weakly.

“Not my fault, Bro. There wasn’t any other movie apart from this.”

Ranveer clenched his jaw. His first movie date with Maya Bajaj and that too a cartoon movie? Wow. Nothing can be more disastrous than this. But as he turned to see Maya, he noticed her enjoying it. She constantly had a smile which brought back the joy on his face too.

When she laughed with the audience at some particular scene, she subconsciously leaned her head on Ranveer’s shoulder. He stiffened. Maya had never been so free and relaxed next to him before. She had no clue what effect her actions did to his body. Ranveer tried to catch hold of her arm, but the moment he merely touched it, she took off her arm and kept it on her lap. Ranveer bit his teeth in frustration. A man who had dated other women before, today was desperate for a simple handhold from the woman he desired, despite tremendous efforts. That was heart-wrenching for his ego. He hated pretending to go slow in this relationship with Maya. If he had been himself, he would have kissed her passionately by now, forgetting all the people around them. But with Maya, he had to restrain the desire that burned within.

The movie ended in two hours. When they parted ways from Dhruv Malik to get back to Paradise, Maya noticed the grim look on Ranveer’s face. He was unhappy.

“You didn’t like the movie?” she asked purposely.

“It … it was nice,” he lied and opened the car door for them and shut it when they got inside.

“Alright, Bro. Good night. See you tomorrow,” Dhruv hugged him. “I hope you had a good time.”

Ranveer gave him a scorned look.

“You better rework on your ideas. I hate this slow and steady race you have put me into.”

Dhruv chuckled. He knew how impatient Ranveer turned out if he didn’t get what he wanted soon.

Next Day

Maya was at office. She was overworking these days to cover up her absence during her visit to Jaipur. But Ranveer was working from home today. Dhruv had plans to meet him too at home.

Mr. Patel, their detective, entered the living room and shook hands with Ranveer who led him inside.

“Any update on Maya’s case?” he asked.

“That’s why I am here, Mr. Malhotra.”

Ranveer turned around to face him.

“We have run the damaged number plates of the maroon car which had hit Maya’s vehicle. The same car which we found in the valley at the outskirts, the other day.”

The information raised Ranveer’s curiosity.

“Whom does that car belong to?” he waited impatiently to know.

“Vivek Bajaj.”

The next instant they heard the noise of a vase breaking. Garima overheard this conversation and couldn’t handle it.

“Mrs. Bajaj.” Ranveer immediately rushed to hold Garima from collapsing on the floor. He patted her cheeks as she fell unconscious. “Mrs. Bajaj.” he shouted again, but she didn't respond. He carried her in his arms straight to her bed and placed her there.

Laura rushed inside hearing the sound of the vase breaking.

“Call the Doctor immediately and inform Maya to come back home. Right now.”

“Yes, Sir.”

Laura rushed out to make the calls. Ranveer sat next to Garima and sprinkled some water on her face, trying his best to bring her to consciousness.
