“Kunal? What are you doing here?”

“Why? Only your boyfriend is allowed to attend this auction?” he mocked.

Maya sensed something wrong. She knew Kunal’s presence was enough to create some mess in Ranveer’s normal life. They both had already been going through a lot of stress these days, and Kunal was always adding more to it. But was Ranveer aware he was here too?

“To be honest,” Kunal came forward. “I came here for you.”

“What do you mean?”

“When I got to know Ranveer has taken you to Jaipur, I realized why he is doing all of this. He has always been a playboy. He tricks his woman to oblige to his desires after all.”

“Shut up,” Maya barked. “He is nothing of that sort with me.”

“I hope that too,” Kunal replied with a smirk. “Because I don’t want him to lay his hands on you.”

“Keep your hands off my girl.” Ranveer shrugged off Kunal’s arm arrogantly before he could touch Maya. “Take this as my last warning,”

“Oh, Ranveer,” Kunal sighed. “Stop cocooning her. She is old enough to know what's good for her. And just so that you know, Maya and I used to be good partners before you even knew she existed.”

Maya was surprised that Kunal could fabricate their past friendship in such a way that Ranveer could be misled. Why was he doing this? Before she could deduce what was happening, Ranveer hit Kunal’s jaw, and he stumbled on the floor.

“This… Your anger” Kunal laughed. “This is going to push her away from you. Mark my words.”

Maya gasped in panic, seeing Ranveer grabbing a glass bottle kept on the table. He was about to hit it on Kunal’s head when she held his hand and pulled him back.

“Ranveer, stop it. Please,” she pleaded. “He is not worth it.”

Ranveer looked at her in frustration, and only because it was Maya pleading him not to harm Kunal further, he dropped the bottle on the floor.

“Let’s go,” she demanded as soon as Ranveer took a grip on himself. He entwined their fingers and dragged her out.

Chapter 34

Maya had kept walking with Ranveer who had gripped her hand so tight, as if he thought if he left her hand, she would run away. The car halted at the exit door and Ranveer got inside, waiting for Maya to follow him in. Maya stopped and turned to Aisha.

“Ensure the camera footage of Ranveer-Kunal's fight, if any, is deleted. I don’t want any more damage done,” she informed.

This was the first time she was leading the situation and even Ranveer Malhotra was surprised by it. Aisha walked back inside the auction area, whereas Maya took a sigh of relief getting into the car with Ranveer. The car sped off as soon as she shut the doors. Kunal was doing things on purpose. What could be his motive? Initially, he was the one who wanted her to stick with Ranveer so that he could be profited out of it, but now, by creating such misunderstandings, he was clearly trying to break Ranveer and her team. He was up to something big for sure.

She turned aside only to find Ranveer watching intently at her.

“You know what?” she snapped. “You don’t need a girlfriend but a babysitter. Do you like creating ruckus everywhere you go?”

Ranveer didn’t say anything but could not control from smiling at her accusation. She was right. Wherever he went, problems followed. He knew Kunal was going to be a part of this auction, but he didn’t consider him any threat because there was nothing Kunal could snatch from him this time. It was a simple car auction, but Kunal’s approach towards Maya had taken a nasty turn, and he would not let him win.

“I am serious, Ranveer, so will you stop smiling and pay attention to what I have to say?” Maya snapped.

Ranveer narrowed his brows at her.

“I don’t like being ordered,” he said.

“Then change yourself, Mr. Ranveer Malhotra. Because the world doesn’t work that way. You might be powerful, but engaging in violence is not an acceptable practice. Do you even realize what would have happened if you had hit Kunal with that bottle?”

Ranveer rolled his eyes.

“He wouldn’t have died.”

His reply provoked her to continue arguing.
