“We are flying to Jaipur tomorrow, so technically, you have more things to worry about than this,” he tapped on her nose and walked away.

Maya sighed. How easily he walked off without answering her. But she was not going to stop chasing that reply. Her body suddenly froze as she pondered upon his last words. Yes, she actually had more things to worry about because the Jaipur trip with Ranveer Malhotra alone was going to be disastrous.

Bajaj Mansion – Next Day

“Adira, come fast. Your breakfast is ready,” Vivek called.

“Sir, Ranveer is here to see you,” his servant informed.

Vivek grew nervous, wondering about the reason behind the visit. Garima? Maya? Adira? He wiped his damp brow before Ranveer strode into the room, his imposing presence setting Vivek further on edge. He knew Ranveer was no less than a tornado capable of demolishing an entire city if he desired, and that he would never show up anywhere without a strong reason.

“Ranveer,” Vivek cleared his throat and faked a smile. “I wasn’t expecting you here.”

“I like to surprise people,” he replied coldly.

The servant left, and Vivek asked Ranveer to take a seat on the couch. Declining Vivek's offer to sit, Ranveer got right to the point.

“I am not here for any meet and greet, Mr. Bajaj, but to warn you and your daughter to stay out of my way.”

Vivek bristled. “We've no business with you.”

“And you should leave Maya and her mother alone too,” Ranveer threatened.

“They're my family,” Vivek argued.

Ranveer's eyes flashed dangerously. “Wrong. You failed to give them a family. They're mine now. And I don't tolerate people messing with what's mine.”

Vivek paled at his serious tone but tried to appear unfazed. “You and family, Ranveer? Since when did that happen?” he scoffed.

Ranveer's blood boiled but he kept his voice lethally calm. “Since Maya entered my life. Nothing's been the same.”

Vivek scowled, unhappy to hear that. “Don't mislead her innocent heart with your pretended love,” he warned.

“You've no right to judge us,” Ranveer spat. “Teach that to Adira instead.”

“Ranveer,” Adira called eagerly from upstairs, having overheard his voice. “You've made my day.”

Ranveer tensed with irritation as she rushed down. Vivek grabbed Adira's arm, stopping her.

“Don't, Adira. I don’t want you to meet him. Just go inside.”

She shook him off indignantly.

“I'm 21, you can't control me.”

Amused by her audacity, Ranveer stayed silent as she fawned over him.

“Did you miss me Ranveer?” she asked.

Ranveer raised his brow and didn’t reply to her but looked back at Vivek.

“Mr. Bajaj, I hope you take my advice seriously. Stay away from Maya and her mother.”

Vivek clenched his jaw whereas Adira frowned.

“She complained about me?” she asked Ranveer sulkily.
