“Neither one of us can have kids now,” I start laughing, then groan when it hurts like a motherfucker.
“Zach…”
“I love you so much,” I tell her as I lie on my back in her parents’ living room floor, with a bag of frozen peas over my cock and balls. “I don’t want to live life without you. I love you now as much as I loved you seven years ago. I will always love you like that. Please forgive me.”
“I love you, too,” she falls on my chest and starts kissing my face.
Chaos ensues after that, and it takes a while before I am able to sit up, then gradually move to the couch. I want to pull Hunter in my lap, but I think better of it and just press her into my side, one hand thrown over her shoulders. I kiss the top of her head and let out a sigh of relief.
“Okay,” Ridge tries to quiet us down. “Now that’s settled, I got news,” he hollers over the crowd. We all stop talking just in time to hear the doorbell ringing. “Oh, for fuck’s sake,” he mumbles under his breath and runs to the door to open it.
“I can’t believe you did that, dude,” Van’s voice whispers in my ear from his perch on the floor where he is sitting with Chloe in his lap.
“Hey, it was in the name of love. You’d do it for Chloe, right?”
“Ah, well, I…” He stutters long enough for Chloe to get on his case.
“Find a seat and don’t talk,” Ridge’s voice calls out to the new guests which happen to be my sister, her fiancé and their daughter.
“Mir,” I call out to my sister. I love how happy she always is when she sees me. It’s only been a year since we connected, but I feel like I’ve known her all my life.
“Uncle Zach,” Emmy runs to me, but I have to stop her right as she is about to jump on me.
“Uncle Zach is not feeling too well right now, Ems,” Hunter pulls her into her own lap, squeezing her hard to Emmy’s delight.
“Okay, people,” Ridge calls us to order once again. “I got two things to say. Both equally important. Number one,” he turns and grins at me and Hunter. “I have never felt prouder than today to be your brother,” he points at Hunter. She rolls her eyes at him but has the biggest grin on her face. “That was some epic shit, and I wish I had it on film.”
“You said a bad word,” Emmy calls him out, and we all laugh when Ridge pulls out a one dollar bill from his jean pocket.
“What did we miss?” Miranda looks around the room in confusion.
“Never mind that,” Ridge waves her off. “Now, for the big news,” he puts an arm around Brooke and kisses the side of her head. She is struggling to keep Levi from jumping out of her hold, and gives Ridge a strained but happy smile.
“We’re pregnant,” Van jumps up from the floor, Chloe pushed completely to the side, hair all over the place.
“Van,” she mumbles under her breath, “I’m gonna kill you.”
Both sets of parents on their side are just besides themselves with joy. Eva and Jack Montgomery also congratulate them, as well as everyone else.
“You,” Ridge points at him. “You can’t ever be around when I got something important to announce.”
“What’s more important than this?” Van cracks up, happy to finally announce his own news as he starts explaining at length about the whole mini Van deal.
“We’re pregnant, too,” Brooke grins at the room at large, then jumps to kiss Ridge on the mouth. The room erupts into complete chaos. We all take turns congratulating the happy couples, then chasing the kids, who are already born and present, around. Well, me not so much, but that’s what the rest are doing.
Finally, Hunter drops next to me on the couch, puts her head on my shoulder and sighs.
“Happy?”
“Very,” she grins at me.
“I can’t wait to get you naked,” I whisper against her lips. “I may be out of commission for a while though.”
“I’m so sorry,” she says it, but it doesn’t sound like she means it.
“It was so worth it,” I nip at her bottom lip. “We should go home now, what do you say?”
“I got news,” she starts, and I let out a groan. She sounds so much like her brother right now. “No, I really do,” she laughs and pokes me in the ribs.
