“What’s your news?” I tease her, pulling on a loose strand of her hair.

“We’re pregnant, too.”

My vision goes blurry in an instant, my breath completely stuck in my throat.

“Hunter,” I manage to croak. “I will make you so happy,” I snap out of it and take her mouth, feasting on it like it’s the best thing I’ve ever tasted.

The chaos around us continues, but I only care about what I have in my arms.

My entire world.

The End

EPILOGUE 1

Seven months later

Hunter

“He is so beautiful,” I gush over the little bundle in my arms as he is all swaddled in his blanket, watching me and Zach with an intensity I didn’t know babies were capable of.

Jacob Adam Cavanaugh. Jake, for short.

“I’m so happy we have a boy,” Zach sounds all choked up when he tells me that.

“I think you would’ve made an amazing girl dad, Zach. Look how you are with Emmy!”

“Yeah, well, that’s because she’s Jackson’s problem when she starts bringing boys around,” he snorts. “I don’t need that kind of pressure in my life. I have no idea why your brother wants a girl as badly as he does.”

Brooke gave birth to their second baby boy about a week ago. Logan Montgomery became the perfect addition to their family. As soon as things settled down from the actual birth, Ridge started throwing hints at Brooke about her giving him a girl next.

“So,” I can’t help asking, “what are you going to do if our next one is going to be a girl?” I am so tired, feel sticky and just gross after an intense fourteen-hour labor, I can’t believe those words actually came out of my mouth.

“I’ll talk to your dad. He’ll hook me up with guns and ammunition. I’ll manage,” he chuckles without taking his eyes off our son’s face.

He lifts his left hand and runs it over the baby’s head, making my heart go pitter-patter in my chest. The wedding ring he pretty much forced me to put on his finger as soon as he recovered from me kicking him in the balls is now glistening in the dimmed lights of the hospital room. It is the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen.

“Not as sexy as you,” Zach leans down to place a gentle kiss on my dry lips, and I realize that I spoke the words out loud.

His cell phone starts buzzing from his back pocket, and he rushes to grab it before it disturbs the baby.

“Your parents are here if you’re up for it,” he tells me as he reads the text he just received. “Ridge and Brooke are home with the kids, but they love us all and can’t wait to see the baby.”

“What about Grams?” She’s been dying to meet the new addition to our family, but being that it’s four in the morning at the moment, she is at home.

“I called her as promised. She’ll wait for us at the house when they release you.”

“Your dad?”

“He is out there in the waiting room with your parents. Alana is keeping him company,” Zach rolls his eyes, but I see the smirk in the corner of his mouth.

His father became close to the nurse who took care of him while he was in the hospital about a year ago. They started casually dating, but it soon turned serious. I’m assuming they’ll get married soon, right after he manages to get her two grown sons’ blessing.

“Is it okay if my parents come in first?” I’ll have to learn what the protocol is when it comes to dealing with the grandparents.

“Totally,” Zach taps away on his phone, then slides it back into his pocket. He lies down on the bed next to me, one leg on the floor for support. He kisses my head again while his hand is back on the baby’s small head.

“I love you, Zach. I am so happy that life brought me back to you.” I feel so emotional all of a sudden. I remember when Brooke lost her shit like this after having Levi, and I thought she was a little extra. And look at me now.
