She watched me get up and walk away. “Good luck, Ava Volk.”

I stuck the keys into my pocket and scanned the map, trying to get a hold of the direction of the dorms.

“Here we go, Aves. Time to start anew,” I told myself.

Ann shouted out as I reached to shut the door. “We will try and get you relocated as soon as we can. We don’t usually have co-ed accommodations unless there is a mated couple or harem.”

Harem. Minx had a harem. I wondered if she stayed with them.

I was sure she did. Mates couldn’t stay away from each other for long periods of time.

“Thank you.”

Chapter Three

I had two rolling suitcases and one large duffle. It took way longer than it should’ve to get my stuff into the school after parking in the correct section and finding the elevator to my dorms.

I asked one guy for help, but he shook his head instead of really responding.

Friendly bunch around here.

After what felt like an hour of one suitcase having a mind of its own, I finally found my room, more tired than I had been in years. I didn’t get a lot of sleep after the accident, but getting here felt like a hard journey.

Maybe my roommates would be kind, at least.

I stuck the key in the door, and my wolf flared to life. She howled instantly and clawed at me, wanting to get to the delicious scents hanging in the air. On the other side of the door was a good bit of gunfire and manly cries of anger and sorrow. They must’ve been watching a movie or something.

Then one of them yelled. “Hey! You stole my apex predator rocket launcher. I had to go through six campaigns to get that. Now you’re dead meat, Nolan!”

Video games. Huh.

Despite the battle cries, I walked in and stopped dead before closing the door behind me. It was a typical dorm from what I’d seen in movies. Boxy, thin fabric couches lined the walls. Bright yellow bulbs lit the small living area. A square coffee table sat in the middle, but the men sitting on the couches were using it more like a footstool than anywhere I’d put a cup of coffee.

Damn, I’d give anything for a cup of milky coffee.

“Hi, I’m Ava. They assigned me to your extra room,” I called out, trying to be polite.

I swallowed against my closing throat when they turned around to face me. Gods, they smelled good, but their wide eyes and open mouths told me they might not have seen a female before.

“I, um, I think someone is bombing you.” I pointed to the screen.

The guy lounging on the couch by himself with his legs hanging over the opposite arm pushed some button and, just like that, the game paused.

Still, none of them muttered a word.

I pulled my suitcases all the way in and shut the door behind me, taking the chance, while my back was turned, to roll my eyes and snicker.

I don’t have three heads. Maybe they were simply shocked that someone was moving in.

“Ann from housing said I could stay here until they relocated me. I’m not sure what happened to your other roommate but…”

Nothing but big stares from all three of them.

“Okay, then. I’m going to go to my room and try not to breathe loudly. I’ll stay out of your way as much as possible.”

I rolled my suitcases to the one open door. I peeked inside and saw the bare mattress with bedding folded at the foot. “I guess this is me. Don’t all rush to show me around.” Under the scents of males and alpha wolves, I detected Chinese takeout. I was assured there was a fine dining hall on one of the floors, but it closed right about the time I asked the dude in the elevator for help, so I missed that train.

There wasn’t another sound from the living room. Not a peep. It was like I broke them or something.
