If he really is right, then the Greeks didn’t take Sophia far. Hell, I can still smell the salt water in the air as I scan the area below, plotting my own path through the heavily guarded front door.

“That means you’re getting old,” Ray jokes.

But I’m in no mood. No one fucking is.

We all shout the same thing at the same fucking time.

“Ray, shut up!”

It hardly phases the Irish enforcer. “Hey, I’m just trying to lighten things up,” he shrugs. “Things are getting way too dark.”

But I’ve had enough. And I know exactly how to shut him down for the rest of the night.

“Castor, tell him what you told me on the way over here. Who let you know where the Greeks were?”

“The Italians.”

“And how did they know that?”

“They’re working with us—they just don’t know that we have split into two separate factions. Guess they didn’t do their homework… or they’re just really desperate to betray you lot.”

I can practically hear Ray’s jaw drop. “No fucking way,” he mumbles. “I’ve had eyes on the mole all night, and there hasn’t been a peep out of her.”

“Then she must not be the only one. For someone who was supposed to keep the Italians in check, you sure don’t know shit.”

That’s enough to quiet Ray down for the moment. Hell, I can practically hear the gears turning in his head as I look over at a furious Maksim. He’s still pissed that the Greeks managed to catch him by surprise. This is a revenge mission for him too now.

Hopefully, the news of the Italians will get Ray angry as well. This is our last push; I need to be surrounded by blood hounds, not practical jokers.

“Well, fuck,” Ray grumbles, his smile twisting into a sneer. “I need to kill someone.”

“Let’s start right now,” I nod. “You, me and Maksim will go in the front door. My men will come up from behind. Castor’s men will barge in from either side. What few Irishmen you’ve managed to scrape away from the Kilpatricks will stay up on the roofs and provide cover fire with their snipers. Castor will direct it all. Does everyone understand?”

I’m met with several grunts of approval.

“Let’s do this shit,” Ray snarls, cocking his gun.

“Bet I get more kills than you,” Maksim grumbles under his breath, unable to help himself.

“You’re on, Russian-me.”

“Let’s do this,” I nod.

Turning my back from the group, I lead the way down a rusted fire escape, preparing myself for a bloodbath.

Charging straight into an enemies hideout like this is not the Black Delphi way. We’re assassins, and we’re used to silently slipping through the shadows. But that requires planning. We don’t have time to waste on planning.

Sophia is in danger, and Retsos has no real reason to keep her alive anymore.

On the way here, Castor told me everything.

I know that Retsos has the treasure. I know about the bombs.

It’s all been Retsos. He needs to be wiped from the face of the earth.

I swear to god, if he touches a single hair on her body…

We all hit the alley floor and start running together, only a couple of blocks away from the abandoned factory the Italians swear Sophia is being held in.
