I appreciate my friend and all her support but honestly the moment has passed. Also, now that my pussy isn’t taking over my body, my brain is starting to make much more sense. What started upstairs did not need to finish. Even though my head says it, my lower lips are still craving what she didn’t get.

“No, don’t worry about it.”

She shrugs. “So, Andrew finally got you to open those legs. Honestly, I didn’t think he had it in him.”

That would be a reasonable assumption. Considering the last thing she remembers is me having a date with him last night.

“Yeah, about that…” I start, but don’t finish because the way Trina’s mouth falls open and her eyes widen, I already know who has made an appearance.

I turn to find a shirtless Gabriel in the same basketball shorts he slept in. His hair is back up in its messy bun.

His eyes connect with mine, and the fire in them has me squeezing my thighs together. The ache between my legs intensifies as the memory of him eating my pussy plays back in my head. As if he can sense my thoughts, his gaze drops down to my thighs and takes its precious time making its way back to my face. When it does, he slips his bottom lip in between his teeth.

“Shit, I think I need to change my panties,” Trina’s whispered words have me turning away from Gabriel.

Clearing my throat, I step to the side so that I can see both Trina and Gabriel, I introduce them.

“Trina, this is Gabriel. Gabe’s father. And Gabriel, this is Trina Blackstone. My best friend and Gabe’s godmother.”

Gabriel dips his head at Trina. She waves demurely at him.

“I’m going to go check on Gabe,” he says before heading out the patio door.

Trina and I both stare at his back as he walks out. Although he has been staying with me for a week and a half now, this is the first time I’m actually seeing the tattoo on his back. It’s terrifying with its sharp fangs. It almost looks like a depiction of a vampire if not for the large horns. The only color other than black and gray shading are the glowing red eyes of the demon.

For some reason seeing the tattoo doesn’t scare me like I think he wants it to. Instead, it comforts me.

Once Gabriel is outside, I’m pulled back to the conversation with Trina.

“I thought we were friends?”

Taken aback by her question, I ask. “What are you talking about? We are friends.”

“Why the hell didn’t you tell me you were fucking a Norse god. No wonder my baby came out obsessed with the Avengers, his father is got damn Thor.”

I toss my head back and laugh. “I can’t take you seriously.”

“I’m for real. Girl, your pussy has to be world class, ain’t no way you took all that.”

“Hey,” I say jokingly. “Don’t be checking out my baby daddy’s dick.”

“Well tell your baby daddy to cage that thing before he comes downstairs in shorts. For a moment I thought it was going to reach across the room and lasso you to him.”

I have to hold my side; I’m laughing so hard. “You need help, Trina. I’m going to take a shower.”

“Yeah, you do that. I’m going to see if Gabe needs a new step mama.”

“Trina,” I playfully shout.

“I’m kidding,” She holds up her hands. “But damn it’s enough to go around.”

I laugh the entire way up to my room and into the shower. My heart is light, and for the first time I feel absolutely happy. I can’t explain the feeling. Yes, I’ve been happy before. The day my son was born I cried tears of joy. However, there is something about this euphoric feeling that feels new. Almost like I’m high.

That sudden thought hits me like a sledgehammer. Because I know all too well, no matter how good the high feels, the crash back down is always hell.

Two hours later, we’re sitting at our table at Malia’s bookstore. Trina is telling me about her newest collab with a new makeup brand. Usually, I’m excited and totally invested in all her new business ventures, but today my mind keeps going back to Gabriel.
