“Unbelievably delicious.” Typical sassy brat sounded like he’d gotten some too.

I snorted at the light happiness in Sean’s voice. He’d always been sunshine regardless of his childhood wounds, but Matteo had helped to heal all sorts of shit in my best friend’s head and heart. They were peas and carrots together as much as Preston and I.

“He offered me the most incredible gift for Valentine’s Day, and I was about to head south to show him my appreciation when you called.”

“TMI, asshole,” I said with a laugh.

“I only answered because it’s you, and this damned trip you took last second had me curious as fuck. So the big news was she sold the company and wanted to seem like a gracious bitch by presenting a tiny portion of the proceeds to you?”

“She didn’t even have to do that though. I’m not her son. Not really.”

“Most people will see it otherwise,” Sean said, his tone turning serious.

“I don’t give a fuck,” I stated, my chin lifted. “He’s what I want, and everyone else can go pound sand.”

“I’ll always have your back.”

“I know you will. Besides my dad, you’re the most faithful person I have in my life, Sean Fox.”

He fake sniffed. “You’re gonna make me cry.”

“Fuck off,” I muttered, realizing the bathroom had filled with steam. “I need to shower.”

“Where’s your lover?”

“Probably passed out where I left him on our bed.”

“Fuck.” Sean huffed a small laugh. “I’ve never heard you sound this happy.”

“For the first time in my life, I truly am.”

“Then I’m thrilled for you, Drake. Honestly. I’ll hate taking you off the website and scrambling to book all our clients for later this week, but if you’ve found what I have…”

“Yeah,” I agreed with his unspoken question. Contentment flooded through me, peace in having made the right choice.

“Well, I can’t wait to lay eyes on the man who snagged my most-wanted Elite.”

I’d kept everything about Preston close to my heart. Sean didn’t even know what he looked like or that Preston was the reason for my love of redheads. My type of kryptonite, I’d claimed to my best friend countless times. I’d even admitted to wanting kids and the white picket fence. But Sean had no clue I’d imagined my stepbrother whenever I’d discussed those daydreams.

“Soon,” I promised, ready for that hot shower to ease my tired, sore muscles. “When we get back to Boston, I’ll bring him over to finally meet my best friend he’s heard so much about.”

“Am I going to lose my beer buddy?” A hint of worry actually coated Sean’s question.

“Did I lose you to Matteo?”

“No, but you and I don’t go out as much as we used to.”

“And I’m fine with that because you’re happy, Sean. You’ve figured out that you’re fucking fantastic as-is. Add in the man who loves you fulfills all your needs, and I wouldn’t wish for anything else. You’ve found your forever man, and I finally have mine.”

“You’re gonna make me cry.”

“Shut the fuck up and go suck your professor’s dick,” I teased.

“Mmm. Sounds kinda fun. Hey, Teach!” Sean hollered in my ear. “Get your fine ass back over here. I want a little taste!”

Chuckling, I shook my head. “You’re dead gone on that man.”

“Can you blame me? He’s hot as fuck. All stoic and shit. I love ruffling his feathers and turning him on to the point he becomes an animal.” Sean made some sort of growly noise.
