Home, I thought.
Just as it occurred to me, I found Halo throwing her head back gasping for air. Her body began to shake and her walls began to grasp at my dick. The sight of her was powerful, like a revelation from God. I found myself pushing into her hard and deep until our bodies shook together and we found release.
Once we cleaned up, I pulled Halo back into the bed. She protested for a moment and I knew she was unsure.
“You don’t have to make this permanent,” I pulled her in close.
She relaxed against me. “This is still so new. I’ve never slept with a man before.”
“I will remain your first everything then,” I kissed her curly hair.
A yawn escaped from between her lips. “Do you think the children will be confused?”
Gently, I rolled her over and tucked a few stray hairs behind her ears. “Don’t worry so much about them.”
“Can’t help it. I want them to …”
“To what?”
She sighed. “It’s so silly but I see myself in them. I was a lot older when my mother died, but I just want them to know they have someone who understands. I just want them to like me.”
Halo was so sensitive and kind. Her heart was pure and I knew that I’d just discovered probably one of the most innocent people in the world.
Lightly, I traced against her lips. “How long have you been alone in the world, Sakura?”
Halo bit at her lip, sadness, and loneliness stamped all over her face. “For a really long time.”
I whispered to her, “I’m here now.”
Halo had her own walls that she put up, just like I did. I saw them rebuilding and pushing themselves into place. “You don’t understand, though.”
“Tell me…”
“I can’t and this…this shouldn’t have happened. We shouldn’t have fell into bed together.”
Before I could stop her, Halo was gathering up her clothes and fleeing from the room. I watched her go, knowing that she was going back downstairs to the girls. She’d probably hold vigil over Maggie for the rest of the night.
Tomorrow, I thought.
I’d make her see in tomorrow that it was a mistake. Everything would be different in the morning, and I’d make my Sakura see that our arranged marriage would work for both of us.
HALO
Today felt warmer than usual and sweat was trickling down my temple. Dabbing at it slightly, I went back to typing up the invoices that needed to go out today.
I was on my third day of working for the equestrian center and happy to be earning my way to my own money. Ashton had begrudgingly accepted the fact that I was going to do it with or without his approval. I needed something to do outside of being a rich housewife.
It just felt natural that I had started working again, even though Ashton could and had been so extremely generous.
As my thoughts turned to him, I picked up my cell phone and noted the time.
“Shit,” the words tumbled out of my mouth.
If I didn’t leave right this minute, I was going to be late picking up the girls from their last day of school. It was early dismal and I’d completely forgotten.
Sheamus stirred at his desk. “What’s wrong?”
“I need to leave,” I said. “Girls are getting out early.”
