With a single, intense glare, he signaled that I was off-limits.

The message was clear, and even the boldest of them knew better than to challenge the new pit Champion.

Especially when his eyes shone like that…

Soon, we reached Kuana’s cell.

I wasn’t sure why we were stopping here, but I trusted him.

With a swift motion, he opened the door, briefly stepped inside, and then emerged as quickly as he had entered.

He glanced back the way we had come and saw that the guards that had escorted us were already marching back the way they had come.

We continued our march, this time with a renewed purpose.

Ikhax’s cell was located in a secluded corner, away from the general population.

It was larger and more extravagant than the other cells, a testament to his influence even behind bars.

As we approached, I felt my heartbeat quicken.

This was it.

The moment of truth.

The guards nodded, granting us permission to enter.

The door slid open with a soft hiss, revealing a dimly lit chamber filled with holographic displays, artifacts, and a hint of incense.

And there, seated on a plush chair, was Ikhax.

He looked up, his four eyes studying us intently.

A slight smile formed on his lips.

“Ah, the lovely Violet and the formidable Kuana,” he said, his voice dripping with mock courtesy. “Welcome to my humble abode.”

I eyed him warily.

Ikhax was the wild card in our escape plan.

While I had made a deal with him, a part of me couldn’t shake the feeling that it might be a trap.

After all, trusting a creature like Ikhax was like dancing on the edge of a knife.

One wrong move, and it could end in disaster.

But to my surprise, Ikhax seemed genuine. “I told you I am a being of my word,” he said, rising from his chair. “Tonight, you will leave Ikmal. But know this: the universe outside isn’t kinder.”

Kuana took a step forward. “We’re ready.”

Ikhax’s lips curled into a smile. “Very well.”

He clapped his hands twice, and from the shadows emerged another figure.

Tall, with chameleon-like skin that shimmered and changed with his mood, this new being was unlike anyone I’d seen before.

“This,” Ikhax introduced, “is Selix. He will guide you out. Follow his instructions, and you might just survive the night.”
