“Malcom, umm…” She swallowed and sighed. “I don’t know what you’re up to right now, but you’re being sweet.”

“You don’t like it?” My lips twitched, and her eyes widened when she caught it.

“I do, but being sick, it’s really messing with my head.”

“I know, honey. But once you feel better, you’ll get it.”

“Get what?”

“Us,” Jett cut in. I glanced to my left. I somehow hadn’t noticed him move, and now he stood next to me.

“Okay, well,” she sounded slowly. Her eyes bounced between us and landed behind us. I didn’t have to check to know Casey had returned, and soon enough, he would be on my other side. “I should probably take some Tylenol and go to sleep because this is obviously some kind of weird fever dream. Next thing I know, I’ll call you guys daddy and you’ll be wearing masks.” My cock came fully alive behind my dress slacks. I felt the two men at my sides straighten. Probably experiencing the same problem.

“Oh god! Did I say that out loud?” Rosa’s eyes widened, but I shook my head.

“Okay, you’re not going anywhere,” I started to lay down the law. “You’re going to sit down.” I pointed at our bed behind her. “And let us take care of you.”

“Isn’t that my job? I’m supposed to take care of you three,” she responded with a little sass, and even though she was arguing with me, I was fucking thankful. It meant whatever bug her body was fighting wasn’t terrible.

“Not tonight or for the next couple of days, baby.” Her niece and nephew had been down for the weekend. She was going to take a minimum of three days, and we were going to make sure she didn’t have to lift a motherfucking finger.

“Malcom…” she whispered my name and then licked those pretty lips of hers.

“Be a good girl and do as you’re told,” I gently but sternly ordered, making sure not to leave any room for her to argue. Her pretty brows bunched, but she didn’t fight me. Rosa simply did as she was told.

Together, the three of us made sure to take care of her.

Casey put a cool towel around the back of her neck, and Jett fed her some soup before giving her medicine. Afterwards, Casey sat next to her, and Jett sat on her other side, the three of them cuddled in my bed as they watched some show called Lopez Vs. Lopez that made her giggle. By the third episode, I was even laughing along with the witty dialogue between father and daughter.

Before I knew it, she drifted off, and so had my best friends. Instead of joining them, I fell asleep on the recliner in my room, but not before ordering a bigger bed that it was obvious we were going to need in the very near future.

JETT

Iopened my eyes and immediately knew I wasn’t in my bedroom.

No. I was in Malcom’s somber-looking space, and instead of feeling confused, peace filled me from the inside out. The day before came tumbling back, and I smiled. By the deep rest I felt I got, I must have been a hell of a lot more tired than I had expected.

A tiny body shifted next to me, and I breathed in her familiar scent, and just like that, breathing was easier. I was in bed with Rosie. We were finally going to make a fucking move and claim her.

Malcom actually agreed.

After the scene in his office, I hadn’t been sure what side of the coin he’d choose. I shifted closer to Rosie’s sweet body and loved how she burrowed her face into my side.

I’d hated how unsteady I’d felt the entire day before. I’d wanted to find any and every reason to get back home, and when six o’clock ticked by and I got in my car, I’d hated every minute of the traffic jam I’d been stuck in. The summer storm had caught everyone off guard, and I hadn’t liked it.

I could still feel the knot of dread in my gut when I pulled up to the house and realized the power had gone out.

She snuggled closer, and my fingertips brushed the hair out of her face. I frowned. She was still warm to the touch. That could only mean her fever had yet to break. We would keep an eye on her and make sure she got better.

“Morning,” Casey’s voice scratched. I looked over her shoulder to find his light blue eyes on me.

“Mornin',” I muttered softly, afraid to wake her up. I glanced around the room and frowned. “Where’s Mal?” I asked.

“Office,” he whispered. I shook my head.

Shit. Was he already having second thoughts? Regrets?
