“Well from what you’ve been reading I figured you’d be interested to see what a truly impressive… Wingspan looked like.” He winked at me and I could feel the blush on my cheeks get brighter and brighter,

“Hold on tight.” He whispered as he stood on the ledge and jumped.

* * *

I hate this place.

“What the hell are we doing here?” I asked Lucifer.

“Training.” He replied as he slowly walked up behind me.

“What does being here have to do with my training?”

Everything inside of me was telling me to leave. To walk away and never come back here. My first childhood home hadn’t been a happy home. No, it was a house of nightmares. On the outside it seemed perfectly fine but the inside? The inside was another story.

Lucifer turned me around to face him and placed his hands on my shoulders,

“Last time you said memories from your childhood resurfaced, so I’m going to help you.”

“How?”

How could he possibly help me? The memories of what was done to me in this house were engraved in me forever. No matter how much I had tried, a part of me would always be stuck in this house of horrors. Forever.

Lucifer leaned in and whispered in my ear,

“Burn it down. Think of every horrible thing that happened here and aim for the house and Burn. It.Down.”

He can’t be serious.

“People live here Lucifer!”

I hadn’t seen any cars in the driveway and the yard and porch were void of any decoration. But the yard was taken care of so someone must live here. Right?

“I purchased it this morning, it is empty. The house is ours.”

He what…

“You- You bought my childhood home?”

He nodded,

“All of them, every house you ever lived in, every house that has plagued your nightmares, I have purchased.”

“Why- why would you do that?”

He smiled down at me as he wiped a tear from my face,

“Because I love you, and I knew as long as these places were standing, those memories would hurt and haunt you and I promised you I would never allow anything to harm you ever again.”

Lucifer leaned down and planted a kiss on the top of my head,

“Focus, think of everything that has happened here, and let it go.”

I turned around to face one of the many places that had haunted my dreams and housed my nightmares.

I closed my eyes and started to think about all the awful things that happened here. Images of my childhood flooded my mind, my parents screaming and yelling at each other over fucking Christmas lights. Being made to kneel in a corner on hard uncooked rice for hours. The feeling of cold leather hitting my body over and over and over again.

I started to feel the familiar warmth going through me, and in my head, I thought about the entire place going up in flames, burning alive every memory of that place and slowly suffocating it.
