“Open your eyes,” he whispered.

I slowly opened my eyes and saw exactly what I had envisioned. My childhood home was engulfed in flames, nothing but bright orange fire and black smoke consuming it.

In a way, it looked like the fire was exorcising the awful memories that lived within the walls.

I smiled as Lucifer grabbed my hand and we watched as the flames devoured the worst of my memories and for the first time in a long time, I felt a weight off my shoulders.

I turned to face him and saw nothing but admiration in his eyes. I pulled him close, tears already running down my face,

“Thank you,” I whispered against his chest as he held me and watched the house of horrors go up in flames and turn to ash.

“So how did it go?” Gabriel asked as Lucifer and I joined him for training.

“It was better than I expected.”

It was more than that. Lucifer had found a way to make sure those memories never plagued my mind again. He found a way to keep me safe from my own head.

“No accidents?”

Lucifer shook his head,

“She was able to keep the fires contained to a manageable level. No damages or injuries to anyone or anything other than the houses.”

Gabriel pulled me into an embrace,

“I’m so proud of you!”

He released me and this time it was Lucifer’s turn to hug me,

“Well should we train for a bit or do you wanna burn down more houses?” he whispered to me,

Gabriel smirked as I laughed took his hand and followed Gabriel to train. Burning down my childhood homes had been wonderfully thrilling. I thought I would feel anger and hurt the entire time, but after seeing the houses turn to nothing but ash beneath my feet. I felt nothing but joy. It was as if I was freeing a part of me that was trapped in those walls and by setting the houses on fire, I set a piece of myself free. Claiming back a part of me that was stolen and taken away. I claimed pieces of myself back today, pieces of myself that I was sure would be lost forever. But I found them. He helped me find those pieces and together we would put the pieces back together again.

“You’ve improved but the fire still lacks shape and form,” Gabriel said as he handed me my water bottle. We had been training for about two hours and I was not as exhausted as I used to be so we kept going.

“What do you mean?”

Lucifer answered,

“Think of the fire as water, when you spill water it goes everywhere, so your fire right now is like spilled water, it goes everywhere, yes you hit your targets but those edges could still hit something or someone else and cause an injury to you or others.”

Interesting…

“So I have to-”

Gabriel cut me off and said,

“Focus on containing the flames where you want them to be and the shape you want them to take.”

“Sounds easy enough, let’s give it a go.”

I tossed my water bottle to the ground and made my way to the center of the field but Lucifer gently grabbed my wrist,

“Are you sure? I don’t want you exhausting yourself.”
