I can’t leave her out of the alpha and lady dragon’s wedding. It just doesn’t feel right.

“Why did you wake me?” she pouts as she sits up in bed and yawns while stretching her arms over her head. The lightest shade of green eyes meet mine, eyelids heavy and alluring.

Gods… I can’t help but have the fleeting thought that she’s the cutest thing when she wakes up. It’s the first time I’ve witnessed it, and I suddenly regret missing it every morning for the past week.

It’s not just loyalty that won’t allow me to leave her behind. It’s something else…

“We’re going to Seattle,” I inform her, deftly avoiding the thoughts running rampant in my mind. Instead, I head over to her wardrobe, grab a bag, and shoving whatever I can find into it.

“Wh-why?”

“Draco and Lily’s wedding is in two days,” I explain. A groggy and lethargic Yazmine appears behind me, her hair disheveled and eyelids droopy. Shaking my head, I reach down and scoop her into my arms, startling her.

“We’re already late,” I chuckle as I carry her out. She finally relaxes in my touch, wrapping her arms around my neck.

“Seattle, huh?” she asks groggily.

“Uh-huh,” I concede, carrying her into the elevator. “You’re finally gonna interact with more humans.”

“Yay…” she yawns without emotion. “How are we getting there?”

“We’re flying, of course.”

“Thank God you made it!” Lily exclaims when we meet them in the lobby.

The flight to Seattle had been short. It's too short if I’m being honest. It’s been almost a month since I picked Yazmine out of her car and flew her to the island with her kicking and screaming for me to let her go.

Today’s flight had been different, and I’d been entranced just by watching her gaze at the ocean as we soared over it. The way her eyes twinkled in awe—it’d been an experience of its own.

I didn’t realize how much of the world I had stopped appreciating until I saw the world through her curious eyes. I’d been so appalled by the current situation of the world being driven by greed while starvation worsened that I hadn’t stopped to think that pure souls did exist.

Like Yazmine…

“Oh, my God! Yazmine is here!” Kairo gasps when she spots Yazmine. She glances at me with appreciation in her eyes before pulling Yazmine into a hug.

“You two need to get dressed,” Lily reminds me as she shoves a keycard into Yazmine’s hand. “Your room is on the sixth floor.” She turns Yazmine around by her shoulders and pushes us off toward the lift.

“We’re er—we’re sharing a room?” Yazmine quizzes as she inspects the keycard while we wait for the lift.

With only twenty minutes left before we need to regroup for dinner with Lily’s family, I don’t see the point of worrying about our sleeping arrangements.

“You should be concerned about the fact that we’re incredibly late,” I chuckle as the lift doors slide open and we step inside. “We only have about fifteen minutes to shower and dress.”

Yazmine’s eyes grow wide with horror when realization dawns on her. “I—I can shower in five minutes,” she grimaces.

“Not a chance,” I grin, taking her hand to lead her out of the life. “I guess we’re showering together.”

Chapter 22 - Yazmine

“Oh, I forgot to mention that my parents are here as well,” Aragon calmly says while he fixes his wristwatch.

“Y-your parents?” I fumble, dropping the hairbrush from my hand.

Aragon chuckles as he leans down to pick it up. Holding it out for me, his eyes flash with amusement as he smirks.

“Yup,” he relents with a curt nod. “My whole family is here. You haven’t met Draco yet, have you?”
