If the sex is great, it’s a bonus.

Once I’m back in my own bedroom, I shut the door and breathe out a sigh of relief. My mind and heart is at war, but I can’t allow the latter to win.

I’ll just enjoy the moment, and she’ll leave me in peace once she’s fulfilled her purpose.

Aragon… Where are you? Draco asks through the mind link, spurring me out of my derailing thoughts.

I’m still upstairs, I reply mentally as I pull a tank top over my head. What’s up?

What’s up? His amused chuckle echoes in my head. Did you forget?

Forget? I frown, shutting the wardrobe door and staring at it as if the answers might come from it. Surprisingly, it actually does when I spot the date on the calendar. Shit! We’re going to Seattle today?

Yup. We’re waiting for you outside.

My eyes widen as I stare at the calendar. I’ve been so out of the loop, I’d forgotten that we planned on leaving the island for Seattle this morning. Draco and Lily’s wedding is in two days, and we have a lot to prepare.

A lot to worry about, too. Leaving the island without an alpha or beta isn’t ideal. But we should be fine with our warrior dragons trained well for battle.

Huffing, I throw open my wardrobe and grab a backpack, shoving as much clothing as I’ll need for a four-night stay in the city. I dash down the hallway and step into the lift, sending Draco a mind link to inform him I’m on my way down.

“Nice of you to finally join us, Aragon,” Kairo remarks with a grin when I leave the castle doors.

I stick my tongue out like a child. “It’s called being fashionably late, okay?”

Felix chuckles. “Have you even showered this morning, brother?”

I lift a pointed finger at him. “Don’t even go there.”

“Yeah…” Stryder chimes in. “I don’t think so. He barely leaves his quarters these days.”

“Neither does Yazmine,” Stryker adds with a light chuckle. “At least there’s no more babysitting for us.”

“Nope,” Draco shakes his head as he slinks an arm over my shoulders. “Aragon’s doing all the babysitting. As he should.”

Groaning, I put my hands up in surrender. “Please, stop it, guys. I’m only fulfilling my duties. Don’t make it weird.”

“Alright, everyone…” mother joins us outside, with Lily following. “We have to check in at the hotel in half an hour. We’re having dinner with Lily’s family at night, so we can’t be late.”

Draco and Felix go off to greet the warriors and give them last-minute instructions. Though it’s only morning here, we don’t share the same timezone as the States. It’s almost evening there, so we’re technically late.

As we gather in the meadow, preparing to shift and fly out of the island, I glance at the castle and feel my heart flip in my chest. There’s an empty space there, drawing me toward the one thing I feel I’ve left behind. The others shift, Draco carrying Lily and their son in his arms as he’s the first to fly up to the clouds. Everyone else follows, and I’m the only one left in the meadow who hasn’t shifted to dragon form.

I just… can’t. Not even my dragon feels compelled to come to the fore. Staring at the castle, there’s a strong urge to go back inside.

Aragon, where are you? Draco asks from where he hovers over the mountain. The others have already left the dome. He probably came back for me.

I’ll catch up with you in Seattle, I assure him through the mind link. I left something behind. I should go back and get it.

Draco nods his dragon head before turning and flapping his golden wings and soaring out of the island’s invisible dome. Running back inside, I throw my backpack behind the door and rush to the elevator.

The giddy feeling inside my chest grows the higher the lift takes me. The excitement building inside springs out when I open her bedroom door.

“Rise and shine, Yazmine!” I call out loud, chuckling as I cross the bedroom, making for her bed. She stirs and mumbles something unintelligible under her breath, prompting me to shake my head.

The one thing I almost left behind is the woman who groans as she wakes up. Face contorting with irritation, she obviously needed more rest after a very eventful night.

That’s exactly what she would have gotten if I wasn’t so reluctant to leave her behind. Over the past few weeks, she’s become an important ally of the Aurora Dragons, especially the Vulkan family.
