Mac’s normally roguish face turned dark. “The guy who hit him.”

“Woah, back up. Like to the beginning.”

Mac exchanged a look with Bash and licked his lips. “I was coming over to ask you to go to dinner to meet my parents.”

“You want me to meet your parents?”

“Eh, not anymore—” He squeezed my hand when my face fell. “Not because of you. But because I’m good if I don’t see them for a long, long time.”

“Okay?”

“They’re dicks,” Bash said, not elaborating.

“So we left them and we ran into your ex outside the restaurant.”

“Bryce,” Bash spat out.

“Bryce?” I choked on his name.

“He got in our face, saying all this shit.”

“And then I kind of taunted him.”

“You taunted Bryce?”

“Mac and I had just worked things out.” Bash’s cheeks burned red and I scooted closer to him, grabbing his hand.

“And Sebastian had just stood up to my parents—no one’s ever done that for me.”

“We were riding that high, so when we ran into that ass wipe, I wasn’t going to deal with his shit.” Bash’s eyes darkened. “And then he hit me.”

“If you think I’m not going to hit someone who hits Bardot—”

I grabbed Mac’s hand and smiled softly. “I wouldn’t expect you to hold back.”

Did I like they got into a fight? Not at all. But my heart was swelling with pride that Bash had stood up to Mac’s parents and that Mac turned around and punched Bryce because he hurt Bash.

“Let’s get the two of you cleaned up,” I said, dragging them to their feet. “It’s been a long day and I just want to fall asleep knowing the two of you are safe.”

“Remind me to send that guy some merchandise.”

I froze. “What guy?”

“This boy filmed the whole thing. He let me watch it on his phone. I got in a great hit.”

“Mac—you can’t do that.”

“I know. I know. Everyone’s so worried about my reputation, but I have one life to live.”

Bash and I instinctively looked at a picture of Rob on the table by the door and shared a look. Mac wasn’t wrong.

“The two of you are more important than some video. Or what someone thinks of me for defending you.”

“We’re going to have to think of something, though. I don’t think the public opinion will be that great if they find out the three of us are—together?” I hesitantly looked at them and they nodded.

“I’m all in, Em,” Bash said.

“Me too, Pink.” He grabbed Bash’s hand, completing a circle, and my heart swelled, overflowing with love. “With both of you.”
