“I know, man.” His hand was still on her thigh, slowly skimming up and down her soft skin.

The minotaur now knelt between the spread legs of one of the blondes on the platform, while the other girl knelt and held the blonde’s arms above her head. They looked like twins, not that he could see their faces with the masks they wore, but they had the same long golden hair. His hand slipped beneath the hem of Chloe’s skirt and Jesse found himself wishing they were back home in the privacy of their bedroom.

From under Taylor’s arm, Chloe turned her head to look at him. Jesse felt her hand squeeze his thigh and knew she wished the same. He leaned in and kissed her. He hadn’t meant for his lips to linger on hers so long, or to slip his tongue inside her mouth, but one small taste of her always made him ache for more. He should have known better.

What started so softly quickly consumed him. One hand gripped her thigh beneath her skirt and he tangled his fingers in the hair at her nape with the other, holding her mouth to his. Brendan, his friends—even Taylor faded away and all that was left was her. The taste of her mouth, the softness of her skin, the coconut scent of her hair.

Jesse forgot, or maybe at that moment he just didn’t care that they were on public display, out in the open for anyone to watch them on the main floor of a sex club. Not that kissing the girl you loved was at all scandalous, even if he did somehow wrench her from Taylor to straddle his lap. Even if it probably looked like he was sucking her face off. People were fucking on a stage not twenty feet away from them, for chrissakes. He should have known better but that’s what Chloe did to him.

She made him lose his fucking mind.

Chloe sat up on his lap, dazed, and gasped for breath when he stopped ravaging her mouth. He only stopped to get air. Jesse was about to pull her back in when he heard a long slow clap repeat from behind her.

“Bravo, man.” Sloan slurred his words. “She gonna ride your dick for us next?” he snickered.

Chloe scrambled off Jesse’s lap and if looks could really kill, Sloan would most certainly be dead. As if in disbelief he’d actually said what he did, she shook her head. “Are you always such an asshole?”

He shrugged with a chuckle. “Yeah, I guess so.” He downed whatever alcohol remained in his glass and waved his pointer finger between her and Jesse. “I don’t wanna see you and him…” Then he pointed to Taylor. “…or you and him. If I wanna watch…”

Taylor slammed his fist on the table so hard the glasses rattled. “Shut your fucking mouth, Sloan!”

Kit murmured under his breath, “He’s fucked up.”

Oblivious to them all, Sloan bobbed his head back and forth, a dopey grin on his face. “…some fucking, there’s a fucking bull pounding a bitch right over there.” He turned in his seat to point at the platform, knocking over Matt’s drink.

Brendan stood. The server appeared to wipe up the mess. Bo grabbed Sloan by the arm. “Enough, man.”

“Fuck off.”

Shit!

Jesse saw the tick in Brendan’s jaw. He knew what it meant. He quickly moved out of his seat behind his cousin just as Brendan pulled Sloan out of the booth and Axel appeared to put him in a car that would take him home.

Brendan looked to Taylor. “What the fuck is wrong with him?”

“Fuck if I know.” Taylor had his arm around Chloe. “He’s an arsehole and I don’t care that he’s pissed. I’m not putting up with his bloody shite.”

“You know he’s not usually like this, man.” Bo, ever the peacemaker.

“I’m going to kick his arse, that’s what I know!”

“He doesn’t like me.” Chloe sighed. She pursed her lips as she chewed on the inside corner.

Bo reached for her hand from across the table and squeezed it in his own. “Naw, Red. He likes you well enough.” He gave her hand a pat before letting go. “Sloan is just…” Bo paused. “…he’s dealing with some shit right now and I think…”

“That doesn’t excuse what he did,” Jesse interrupted as he sat back down. He put his arm around Chloe and leaned in to nuzzle his nose up the column of her neck. “I’m sorry, babe.”

“It’s not your fault he’s an asshole.” She softly kissed his lips and smiled at him. Yeah, he sure wished they were back at home.

Chloe glanced across the table to Bo. “So, how’s Kodiak doing? You’re here so he must be better, yeah?”

“Well, his shrink doesn’t think he’s going to try to off himself, so.” Bo shrugged. “He’s still pretty fucked up though. I just hope we can get him to Cali before we start laying down tracks, ya know?”

Venery was recording a new album right after Thanksgiving. A three-month tour after New Year’s. He and Chloe wouldn’t be seeing much of Taylor once they started rehearsing next week. His music would consume him then, leaving room for little else, but Jesse was used to it. Taylor required total focus when he was in music mode. That’s just the way he worked.

“Say, Red, you wanna dance with me?” Bo grinned at her.

Jesse lifted his brow but didn’t say anything.
