“Only if you are sure?” Nicky hesitates. Some of the colour has slowly returned to his face but it's obvious he’s still a bit shaken.

“You can trust me.” I reassure him. Slowly walking towards the spot the snake was. I turn around and face the guys who still look wary, but I smile at them, nodding encouragingly. They creep closer but with hesitation. I would laugh, watching five massive guys this terrified of a snake, but I share their fear. Fuck snakes. Creepy bastards.

Eventually, the guys make it to me. “We should be okay now. Just keep an eye out.” I smile in an attempt to reassure them, but it falls fairly flat. They look like meerkats, looking out for predators. We come to the entrance to the bowl after another couple of metres. Our snake encounter is already forgotten as the guys look around. The orange sand is so bright it looks like it could be from another planet.

Sonny lets out a whoop and begins running up the sand dune to the look out. “Last one to the top is a rotten egg!” He calls out.

We all chase after him, occasionally tripping in the soft sand. Dacre grabs my hand as we near the top to help me up, the soft sand near impossible to find grip.

“This view is incredible!” Sonny says in awe as he looks out at the view.

“Thank you so much for showing us this place, Scar.” Dawson turns to me, gifting me a panty melting smile. Words evade me so I just nod like an idiot.

“Totally worth the snake encounter.” Nicky chuckles but I don’t miss the slight shiver of his body.

We all laugh at him, but all know it's true.

Chapter Six

Scarlett

We stay up at the top of the Orange Bowl look out for a while. Unlike earlier we actually spark up conversation and get to know each other a little bit better.

“Tell me what it's like in LA?” I ask the guys.

“Well, I guess it's fairly similar to what you see in the movies.” Nicky begins.

“It really is.” Pike chuckles. “We live in one of the outer suburbs so we have to travel to actually get to the beach so we all knew a beach destination was a must when deciding where to go.” He says looking at the other guys who all nod in agreement.

“The inner city can be a bit much, but the outer suburbs are much more laid back.” Dacre continues.

“Tell me about it. I can’t stand those stuck-up Hollywood freaks.” Sonny says with a shiver.

“That bad?” I ask with a chuckle.

“You’ve got no idea Scar. They creep me the fuck out.” Another shiver. I can’t help but laugh, the guys also seem amused at Sonny’s aversion for them.

“Why did you guys end up choosing Yeppoon? It's off the map a fair bit.” While we do get our fair share of tourists, Yeppoon is one of the more off the radar quiet beach towns.

“It was by total coincidence I guess.” Nicky begins. “We knew for sure that we wanted to come to Australia. Sonny is our resident genius and did a heap of research into ideal destinations. It had to tick all of our boxes.”

Sonny nods his head and continues. “We wanted a place that was quiet but had a big enough city close by so travel would be easy. Something that is central if we wanted to visit other places close by. A quiet, beach side town. Yeppoon seemed like the perfect option.”

“It definitely ticks all of those boxes.” I say with a smile, proud of my little town.

“What are you planning on doing once you have graduated school?” Dawson queries.

I groan at the question, the earlier relief I felt completely gone.

“That bad?” He chuckles.

“Ugh. You have no idea.” I sigh. “I’ve got a job at one of the cafes in town so for now just that but as for if I want to study or start a career, I’ve got no idea. Nothing has ever felt right.”

“I get what you mean. There is a lot of pressure on our shoulders back home to work out what we are going to do once we graduate.” Dacre says with an uncomfortable look.

“From your parents or..?” I leave the question open for the guys to fill in the blanks.

They all look slightly uncomfortable as they look around at each other waiting for one of them to continue.
