I throw my denim shorts back on, putting my shirt back in my bag. I leave my helmet off, not wanting it to get wet from my hair. Dacre gives me a funny look as I swing my leg over the bike.

“Helmet, Scar.” He growls.

“It's not even a ‘kay from here. I will go slow, I promise.” I give him the biggest puppy dog eyes.

“I don’t like it.” He shakes his head with a frown.

“I will be okay, sweet boy.” I do my best to reassure him with a smile but I can tell he doesn’t buy it for a second.

I kick start my bike, waiting for the boys to start theirs once they are all dressed. I notice they all forgo their shirts like me. I mean, I’m not complaining one bit. The best eye candy ever.

The drive down the beach is quick. I notice Dacre sticking close to my side even though I kept my promise in not going fast.

I pull up at the hidden entrance and hop off my bike with the guys all following suit. Driving along the beach, you really have to be paying attention to find the signs. Its why this hidden gem is one of my favourites.

I take the lead through the sand track. It's only a couple of hundred metres in but that doesn’t stop Sonny from complaining.

“Are we there yet?” He groans.

“Almost.” I giggle, turning my head back and smiling at him. As I turn my head back around, I take a few more steps before coming to a standstill.

“Stop!” I yell, completely freezing in my spot.

“What? What’s wrong?” Dawson asks from behind me.

“Um, there’s a snake.” I can’t hide the panic in my voice.

“Funny Scar, that trick won’t work on me again.” Nicky chuckles. I feel him beginning to edge closer towards me.

“Nicky for the love of fucking god, if you take another step forward, I will stick forks in your eyes!” He instantly stalls in place. “I’m not lying about the snake.” I say, pointing to not even three metres in front of us where a massive snake is currently sun-baking on the track.

“Oh fuck.”

“Hell no.”

“Yeah, not today Satan. I’m going back.”

“Don’t. Fucking. Move.” I snap. “That is an Eastern Brown Snake. That is one of the most venomous snakes in Australia. It could kill every single one of us with one bite. They don’t have ears so they can’t hear us moving but they can feel us move. So, don’t. Fucking. Move.” I say quickly, praying these guys listen to my warning.

We stand still for five minutes before the snake eventually slithers off into the bushes. I watch it disappear, waiting until it is well out of our way.

“Fuck me.” I say, letting go of the breath I was holding before dropping my shoulders and turning to the guys.

The fear is still etched onto their faces. Each more terrified than the rest. They still haven’t dared to move.

“You guys are good now. It's gone.” I try to reassure them.

“Are you sure? It was massive!” Nicky says, his face pale, eyes still locked on the bush the snake disappeared into.

“Yeah. He was just out sunning himself. Probably gone off to eat some mice or frogs.”

“Or a horse.” Sonny says horrified.

I just laugh. He’s probably not wrong.

“How can you be laughing right now? I thought we had nothing to worry about after the whole drop bear saga?” Nicky questions. Eyes drifting over my face in disbelief.

“Yeah…” I trial off, “you kind of do. We have some wild ass creatures here.” I laugh, cupping the back of my neck. “We are okay now though. He will be long gone.”
