“You know, we need to have a talk, Paige,” I tell her as she climbs on behind me. “I don’t wanna wait for a family. I want to have kids with you and I don’t give a fuck how that shit happens.”

“I know, Chance. I want to have a family with you too. I can call today about my eggs and see if they think they’re still good or not,” she answers me, her voice soft and sweet.

“Make that call while I’m in church, baby girl. The sooner we start puttin’ this shit in motion the quicker we’ll know what options we have. I know it’s gonna take some time for us to find a surrogate and go through all the steps it takes to make this shit happen. I don’t want to rush findin’ a surrogate. It has to be someone we can trust. I’ve been doin’ my research and there are some fucked-up stories out there about the surrogates not wantin’ to give up the baby once it’s born. We’ll talk when I’m out of church about it more,” I tell her, my voice gruff with the thought of starting a family with Paige.

I truly don’t want to wait to have a family of my own. Paige and I have our shit set and we’re moving forward. She’s my ol’ lady now and that’s for life. You don’t just walk away because things get hard or because of one argument. If we come across some kind of situation that’s hard as fuck, we’re gonna have to work through it. I don’t see Paige pulling another runner or not talking shit out because she’s got a better handle on herself now. She’s willing to talk about things and not hold everything inside.

Once my girl is wrapped around me, I start my bike, pull out, and make my way through town to the clubhouse. We pass a few guys on their way out. It’s mainly the guys from Clifton Falls and Dander Falls now because the rest of us will be in church. Reaching down in the biker greeting, I acknowledge them while passing by. As soon as we’re through the gate, the Prospect closes the gate behind us. We try not to leave it open but have been relaxing on that. Not anymore. Now, the gate is constantly closed so no one can sneak in. Goose has even been going through everything on the gates to make sure the cameras are all working and no one’s cut the fence or anything to make their own way inside the compound. We’ve also got guys walking the perimeter to make sure nothing is going on that we don’t know about.

Pulling up to the line of bikes, Paige gets off after I tap her leg and I back in my spot. As usual, my girl takes her helmet off while I park and get my own helmet off. I take the helmet from her and we head inside. My fingers are linked with hers and I let her walk slightly in front of me because I love seeing my fucking name on her back. Paige gets so damn excited when she wears her rag. There’s always a large smile when she slides it over her shoulders and she doesn’t look away from me whenever she puts it on. It’s one of the sexiest things I’ve ever seen in my life. Paige is sexy even when she’s not trying to be sexy and she doesn’t even realize it.

As soon as we’re in the common room, I see Lyric and Tara sitting at a table together. They look up and wave Paige over to them. I lean down and kiss her deep before smacking her ass and heading out of the common room to get to church. Since no one else is in the common room, I’m sure I’m the last guy here. It’s been a long time since I was at church last. Usually, I’m among the first unless I’m busy or not near the clubhouse. Still, I’m never this late to one of our meetings.

Handing over my phone and gun to the Prospect watching the door, I head in and take my seat. I might not be the last one here, but it’s close. Taking a seat next to Kevlar, we wait a few minutes for the last of the guys to make their way inside so Venom can start church.

“How’s livin’ with Paige been goin’?” my brother asks me as I look around the table.

“Good. I want to move to the house, but I’m not gonna push her on this shit. That’s where they grew up and I know she loves that trailer despite it not lookin’ like much to everyone else. To her it’s home. It’s where she took care of Lyric, where their dad lived with them, and everythin’ else. So, I’ve been holdin’ off on havin’ her make a decision about movin’ to the compound,” I tell Kevlar as Hawkeye watches us.

That motherfucker is so stubborn. He’s even worse than our dad most days. When he digs his heels in about something, there’s no changing his mind. Especially when it comes to a certain female. There’s something going on between Tara and Hawkeye but he refuses to talk about it. I know he has trust issues, but this shit with Tara is gonna blow up in his face if he’s not careful. He’s gonna lose himself to her and then he won’t know what the fuck to do. That’s just how it happens.

Finally, the last of the guys walk in and Venom slams the gavel on the table in front of him.

“Church in session. Everyone knows we’ve been on the search for Lucifer and that fuckin’ skank of his. Paige and Lyric’s mother needs to be found and brought in. I don’t give a fuck what happens to the bitch, but we need to get Lucifer off the streets before he can regroup and bring more guys in to follow him. There has to be someone helpin’ them because neither one of them are fuckin’ smart enough to hide this long on their fuckin’ own,” Venom starts, looking around the room at us all. “Goose, have you found anythin’ on them at all?”

“No. The bitch has one credit card to her name. It’s been maxed out for over a month now. They couldn’t use that shit if they needed to. Lucifer has no cards or anythin’ to his name. He pays for everythin’ in cash or steals it. The fucker leaves a path of destruction in his wake and that’s why it makes no sense that we can’t find them. I’ve been constantly searchin’ through the footage of various town’s cameras for any sign of them and still come up empty handed. So, I don’t know what to do next. I mean, if they open a line of credit or anythin’ like that, I’ve got it set up so I’ll be alerted. I’ve been in contact with King from the Phantom Bastards and he’s been helpin’ me search for them too. Neither one of us can come up with anythin’. If King can’t find somethin’ you know it’s not good because he learned his shit from Fox,” Goose answers, making me sigh deep because he’s right.

Fox is a fucking genius when it comes to what they do with their computers. Knowing King learned everything from his dad, if there’s something to find, he’d be able to find it for sure. I’m not saying Goose isn’t as good as King, but he knows different shit than Goose does. We’ve also got Tech here and I know he’s been helping Goose when he’s not out searching with the rest of the guys. He’s also a master of what they do on the fucking computer. I don’t even begin to pretend I understand what they do because I don’t. Every word that comes out of their mouth is nothing but gibberish to me. Most of the guys here feel the same way.

“How’s Paige doin’ since she got back? I haven’t seen her around,” Venom asks me, looking across the table at me.

“She’s good. Goes to counselin’ every day before workin’ or just hangin’ out at the trailer with me. We’ll start comin’ around the clubhouse more, but for now, we’ve just been hangin’ together and enjoyin’ our time with one another,” I answer him, a smile on my face.

“Good. But, I think the two of you need to consider movin’ into the house here. It’s easier to protect than the trailer. I heard you sayin’ you don’t wanna push her on this shit and I get it. But, this is a safety concern now. Those fuckers could make a move any second and I don’t wanna have anyone outside the gates and vulnerable because we didn’t cover our bases,” he tells me and I nod my head.

“I’ll talk to her when we get out of church about movin’. We don’t have to move everythin’ now and can stay there for a while until we get shit figured out. Or maybe she’ll wanna move in. I don’t honestly know where her head is when it comes to movin’ out of the trailer,” I state, looking at my brothers because we’d be living in the same house as them.

“I agree with Venom that you two should move into the house. I’ll move in and we’ll keep the girls protected better with the three of us at their sides plus everyone else here at the clubhouse. With the two of you at the trailer, we’ll have to split up the guys who aren’t out searchin’ and it’s gonna spread us thin. Just make sure she knows it’s for her safety and I’m sure she’ll have no problem movin’ into the house,” Hawkeye says, his voice calming my nerves because he’d be the main one to fight us moving into the house.

No, I’m not saying he doesn’t like Paige. He just doesn’t trust her. He’s just starting to trust Lyric and she’s been with Kevlar for a lot fucking longer than I’ve been with Paige. He can’t understand why I’d want to be with a woman who pushed me away for so fucking long.

“Okay. Our dads are out searchin’ the surroundin’ towns now. They’ll be out most of the day. Tank and Rage stayed behind today in case we need them. I want everyone to stay close. Go to work but that’s it. No ridin’ alone either. We all double up or don’t go out. If you hear anythin’, let us know immediately. If I’m not around, get with Wicked or one of the other officers. Don’t wait for church to bring this shit up. I want Lucifer taken care of immediately,” Venom says, looking around to see if anyone else has anything to say. “Church adjourned. Ricochet, make sure you talk to your ol’ lady.”

Nodding my head, I leave church and grab my phone and gun from the Prospect before heading to the common room. The girls are still sitting together as I make my way over to them. Kevlar and Hawkeye are close to me when I stop at the table and pull Paige up from her seat.

“Need to talk to you, baby girl,” I tell her, linking our fingers and heading for our room here at the clubhouse.

As soon as we’re in the room and the door is shut behind us, Paige takes a seat on the bed. She’s got a smile on her face and I wonder what the hell is going through her mind with the look she’s giving me right now.

“What’s goin’ on, baby girl?”

“I made the call. Told them I had to go to the bathroom and called the clinic instead. They’ve got my eggs frozen and they’re still good. Whenever we’re ready for this, we just have to let them know and they’ll help us through the process,” she tells me, our dream starting to become fucking real with this news.

I can’t stop myself. Picking Paige up from the bed, I hold her close and spin her around while kissing her deep. I’m fucking excited and know that this is just step one of a long ass process. I don’t really want to get my hopes up, but at the same time, I do. Paige and I are gonna create a family of our own and we’re taking the first steps in making that happen. It’s an exciting time for me. The only horrible part is knowing Lucifer is still out there. Once we get rid of his fucking ass, everything will be right in my world.

“That’s fuckin’ great news,” I tell my ol’ lady as soon as I pull my lips from hers. “But we still need to talk about somethin’ important. I think we should move to the house here on the compound. It’s not safe for us to be alone at the trailer. We still have no clue where Lucifer and your mother are or what they’re plannin’. We know this shit isn’t over either. He’s not just gonna let this shit go. At this point, he could be findin’ more stupid fucks to join him and we’d have no damn clue about it. So, we can’t take any chances. I won’t risk your safety, Paige. Your safety is more important than anythin’ else to me.”

“Okay. I mean, it’s kind of stupid to hang onto the trailer when I let myself think about it. The only reason I’ve been stayin’ there is because it’s where Lyric and I grew up. The memories we have from there will go with us. We don’t need the physical reminder of what’s we’ve been through and how we’ve lived. That’s just where the memories happened. Lyric and I will carry them in our hearts forever,” she says, not fighting me at all on this.
