“Yes,” I say with a nod, though, that’s assuming we can come to an agreement on how and when the transition will take place.

“Yes.” Caroline sighs. “Ethan is insistent Olivia be his Luna as soon as possible.”

Chloe picks up on Caroline’s indifference and chimes in. “Olivia is going through a lot to become his mate, and he doesn’t want to wait a moment longer than necessary.”

“Yes, Caroline told me what the council is suggesting,” Camilla says, looking at me with sympathy. “What they are asking is a bit much, in my opinion, but I admire your bravery, Olivia. Should things go that way, my mate and I will be there to show our support.”

“Thank you, Camilla. I appreciate that,” I reply, feeling the weight of everything on my shoulders.

“So, while I understand Alpha wants the ceremony to happen as quickly as possible, that presents a predicament when designing a custom gown. I simply won’t have enough time. However, I do have a gown I just recently completed. It hasn’t been seen by anyone other than myself and my assistant. I think it would be stunning on you with your complexion and hair color. Would you like to see it?”

“Yes, I would love to see it.”

“Wonderful, I’ll be right back.” Camilla disappears into a room behind her showroom, and I have a chance to look at the quality of her designs on display.

“Everything Camilla does is of the highest quality, Olivia,” Caroline says as we browse.

“I can see that. Her designs are beautiful.”

“Whoa,” Vanessa says, grabbing my hand. “Is this an engagement ring?”

Caroline’s eyes shoot to my hand. “Well,” she says, taking my hand without an ounce of a smile. “It certainly is…a lot, isn’t it?”

A lot? That’s it? Whatever.

Chloe and I shoot each other a knowing look. “Ethan proposed last night,” I say with a smile. “He didn’t want me to miss out on having the perfect proposal, and since we’ll still technically be getting married, he felt it was appropriate.”

“I had no idea he was planning to give you a ring,” Caroline says, crossing her arms.

“It’s gorgeous, Liv. You must have some effect on my brother. He’s never even given a woman flowers before you,” Vanessa says.

“Really?” I ask.

“It’s true. You are the one and only woman for him. It’s obvious.” Vanessa hugs me, and whispers in my ear. “Remember what I said. You can handle her.”

I smile and nod with confidence. “He’s the one and only man for me too.” That’s right, Caroline. I’m not going anywhere.

“Okay, my darling Olivia,” Camilla says. “I have the gown in our largest dressing room. Let’s have you try it on to see what you think. Come with me.”

I’m all smiles as Camilla and I walk back to the dressing room. The butterflies in my stomach are going crazy with excitement. I can’t help but get caught up in the moment. I feel like I’m choosing my wedding dress, and in a way, it is a wedding tying Ethan and me together for the rest of our lives.

Camilla opens the door and I gasp. In the human world, this could be the wedding dress of my dreams. “Camilla, I don’t even have words to describe how beautiful this is.”

“It’s going to be gorgeous on you, Olivia. Let me tell you about it. It’s made with a champagne sequined tulle, and asyou can see, a sweetheart neckline with a lace motif bodice and hemline.” She smiles at me while I stand in awe of her creation. “Would you like to try it on?”

“Yes, please.”

“Let me get my assistant to help.” She runs out of the dressing room through a back door and comes back with an adorable girl with a blonde pixie cut. “Olivia, this is Charlotte. She is studying under me while she goes to school to be a designer herself one day. Charlotte, please meet our future Luna, Olivia Newman.”

“Hello, Ms. Newman. It’s so lovely to meet you.”

“Hello, Charlotte. It’s nice to meet you too.”

Camilla and Charlotte get the gown in place for me to step in. It slides over my hips and zips, fitting my body perfectly. “Charlotte, could you work on the buttons in the back, please?” Camilla asks, and Charlotte gets to work.

I turn to look at my reflection in the mirror and my eyes immediately well up with tears. “Camilla, it’s perfect,” I whisper.

“Oh, Olivia. It’s like I made this dress specifically for you before I knew you were coming. I have no words.”
