“It’s no problem. Go do your work. I always look forward to a little girl time,” she says with a soft smile.
“Okay.” As I lean down to give her a gentle kiss there’s a knock on the door. “That must be Chloe. I’ll let her in.”
“Hey, guys. How was your night last night?” Chloe asks, hugging Olivia when she comes in.
“One we won’t soon forget,” I say, leaning down to kiss Olivia. “I’ll be in my office if you need me.”
“Okay. We’ll be back in a little bit,” Olivia says, putting on her running shoes.
The hairs on the back of my neck stand in protective attention. “You’re leaving? Where are you going?”
“It’s a beautiful day. Chloe and I are going for a walk,” she says with a bright smile.
My body tenses as I give Chloe a look of warning. “Not too far.” I feel even more protective over her now that we’ve had sex.
“Ethan, she’s with me. You can trust me,” Chloe says with a nod.
I nod back in response. “Okay. I’ll see you later. Just be careful.”
Olivia
Once we’re out the door and in the yard heading down to the trails, Chloe’s inquisition begins. “All right. Let me have it. What happened last night that you won’t soon forget?”
I can’t contain my smile. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Nope. Out with it.”
“Okay,” I say, laughing. “Last night was huge.”
“Oh, yeah? Just how huge are we talking?” Chloe asks with a smirk.
“Pretty damn huge.”
Chloe stops walking. “Hold on. Are we actually talking about what I think we’re talking about? Did you guys have sex last night?”
“And three times this morning.” I smile, waiting for her reaction.
Her eyes pop open. “Three times?”
“And he showed me his wolf last night, Chloe. It was so amazing.”
“What the—wow. Okay.” She hesitates for a moment. “I thought he was taking things slow?”
“I can’t explain it, Chloe. I just needed to be with him. I kind of thought you’d be going nuts over this right now.”
“Did the sex happen after he showed you his wolf?”
“Yeah, why?”
“Uh huh.” She chews on her thumbnail. “You’re happy, though, right?”
“So happy, Chloe. Aren’t you happy for me?”
“Of course. I’m sorry.” She gives me a big hug. “It just seems sudden and I want to be sure you’re okay. If you’re happy then I’m happy for you.”
“You’ve been telling me Ethan is the one who can make me happy, right?”
“Yes, absolutely. I just want this to go at your pace.”
