I sat in silence, staring at Caleb.

There was so much Luke hid from me. Until now, I considered him a good friend but my feelings for him were steadily changing.

I wondered what he told his dad about me.

The man behaved disgustingly with me. Did he think I was still the dirt-poor kid from my college days? Was that the reason he thought I’d let him touch me like that?

I never needed to use my body to achieve anything.

Mom molded me into a hardworking, honest person from my very childhood. These traits had been enough to earn me my investors’ and clients’ trust.

“Why do you look so frustrated?” Caleb asked, watching me closely.

“Bill Beckett,” I muttered. “He’s disgusting.”

He grinned. “We told you so. The man’s an ass.”

“He doesn’t even try covering up for it.”

Caleb’s expression sobered. He pushed a bottle of wine toward me. “Have a sip and tell me what he did.”

Grabbing the bottle, I took a large gulp. “Bill was being sleazy,” I said through clenched teeth. “He thinks I slept my way to the top.”

“If sleeping with people could help someone climb the corporate ladder, the management would be filled with high-class escorts,” said Caleb with a chuckle. “You know what helps though? Ass kissing. Lots of it.”

Caleb moved his hands in front of him and pretended to clutch at an imaginary butt. “You hold it like this...nice and tight...and then...mwah mwah mwah.” Pouting his lips, he made wet kissing noises.

A snort escaped me.

“You should check out my ass,” he said with a serious face. “It’s been kissed smooth.”

I giggled.

Shifting against the couch, he started unzipping his trousers.

“Caleb! Stop!”

“I’ll show you mine and then, you show me yours. Fair deal, princess.” His emerald eyes twinkled with mischief as he winked at me.

“You’re unbelievable,” I said with a laugh and threw a handful of salted cashews at him.

“Oi!” he scolded. “Don’t waste that.”

I put the bowl back on the small coffee before me. “By the way, what are you doing here?” I asked. “You’re supposed to be entertaining too.”

A sheepish look came over him.

“What?”

“The women won’t stop flirting,” he said with an awkward chuckle. “You can say no only so many times.”

My brows rose high on my forehead. An intense burning sensation spread through my chest, leaving me furious at the idea of a woman making passes at Caleb.

“Who was it?” I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.

Caleb chuckled.

Getting up from his seat, he came to stand before me. Kneeling on the floor, he came on eye-level with me and placed his hands gently on my cheeks.
