A soft chuckle escaped him while his hold on my hair tightened. “You’re not going anywhere again, Camilla. From now onward, you’re chained to me.”

Grabbing my arm, he started pulling me away from Noah.

“What about him?” I asked, digging my heels. “He needs to be taken to a hospital.”

He gave a massive tug, the force so powerful I was dragged alongside him.

“He’s coming too,” said Luke, walking between two trucks.

His car was parked right behind the vehicles. Throwing the door to his car open, he shoved me inside.

“He’ll pay if you misbehave,” Luke hissed when I resisted entering the car.

My limbs turned cold at the threat.

Choking on the curse on my lips, I climbed into the passenger-side seat.

“You’re such a cute girl when you obey quietly,” said Luke as he climbed in beside me. “If only you stayed pure and uncorrupted by those Amhurst brothers.” He stepped on the gas, driving us away from the trucks. “It’s all right now, though. You’re finally mine.”

What’s he talking about?I wondered, noting the crazed grin on his lips.

Turning around, I found the trucks following behind us.

“You know this is illegal, right?” I said after a while. “Have you considered the consequences of what you’re doing?”

“I know what I’m doing. I’m taking what’s supposed to be mine.”

“You’re committing a crime, Luke. Is this how you want to succeed in life?”

He glanced at me and scoffed. “You’re the one to talk. I know you’ve partnered up with the Civella family. That’s the only reason you were able to get those properties for the Eastern Corridor project.”

“I might have asked for his help but none of us committed crimes. That I can assure you.”

With a sudden move, he grabbed a handful of my hair and tugged painfully. “You sold yourself to Nick Civella. He’s so mesmerized with your pussy, he refuses to take my money. He wouldn’t even consider making a deal with me.”

“Is that all you know and think?”

He pushed me away. “How else can you make a man like that obey you?”

I stayed quiet, trying to think calmly through the haze of panic numbing my mind.

Nick had been clever enough not to disclose the reason he’d helped me. Irene’s name was never mentioned.

I must keep my lips sealed on it too, I decided. There’s no way I can let him know of Nick’s weakness.

I felt so powerless at the moment, the urge to cry was overwhelming.

What if Noah was seriously injured? What would I do if he didn’t make it through the night? Would Caleb and Corey forgive me for letting their brother die?

Squeezing my eyes shut, I tried to stop the tirade of paralyzing thoughts.

I can’t panic, I told myself. Not now. Not when both our lives were in Luke’s hands.

From a vague memory, I realized we were heading toward Beckett mansion.

Heart pounding in my chest, I kept my gaze on the fleet of trucks trailing behind us. Noah was inside one of them.

I didn’t talk to Luke again, knowing he was taking me to his manor. His father was probably behind this dirty play. He had to be the devil making his son commit such a foul act.
