“I know that. I just didn’t know I was radiating it now.”

Sarah looked at her. “What would you like for breakfast, miss?”

“Uh, granola bar?”

Sarah gave her a look.

“Pancakes?”

“Yes, miss.”

Jarol said, “Sarah, can I get some bacon?”

“You are having pancakes, my lord.”

“Yes, Sarah.” Jarol smiled and looked at Haley. “She really does like you best.”

“It’s because I have a cat.” She smiled and sipped at the refilled coffee. “They are great.”

He smiled. “That isn’t a cat. That’s a beast.”

Haley felt the bands warming up, and she bit her lip. “Well, there is one major piece of jewellery left.”

Tangero raised his brows. “Major? There are minor pieces?”

“Oh, bugger.” She covered her face.

Jarol said, “There is only the necklace left.”

She mumbled, “And the box.”

“Right. Of course.” He paused. “But it’s empty.”

“For you.”

“What?”

“It is empty for you,” she mumbled again.

“So, you can open it?”

“Yes. With the necklace, but you have to be with me.”

“Why?”

“I have no idea. The headpiece is being annoying.” She cleared her throat. “Mr. Tangero, are you having breakfast?”

“My wife made breakfast this morning.”

Sarah approvingly nodded as she poured perfect disks onto a hot griddle.

In five minutes, Haley was eating her breakfast, and Jarol was chuckling. When he got his plate, he ate fast. They both finished at the same time.

She had her third cup of coffee and sighed. “Today is going to suck.”

Jarol chuckled. “It might be interesting.”

“Why are you optimistic?”
