“I’ve got you. You’ll be fine.” Antonio came into focus.

“Althaia… I need to get to Althaia.” I felt hands restraining me, but I pushed them away, gritting my teeth as I powered through the pain to sit up.

“We need to get you fixed first. You’ve lost a lot of blood.” Antonio intervened, preventing me from moving further.

“I… don’t care… she needs me.” I growled out and tried to push them away.

“You can’t help her if you’re fucking dead!” He shouted in anger. “I have to get the bullet out of you. Bite down on this.” He put a piece of cloth into my mouth.

I braced myself for what was about to happen.

Strong arms held me firmly to the ground as Antonio drew his knife. My entire body tensed, and I clenched down hard on the cloth, gritting my teeth through the pain. My voice was muffled as he carved into me, and beads of sweat covered my face.

“Almost there. Hang on.”

It felt like enduring a series of powerful blows with a knife, each strike relentless, leaving me breathless and drained. I closed my eyes, letting my mind focus on anything but the excruciating pain coursing through me.

And then, I stopped feeling anything, captivated by something else.

Soft, long brown curls framed my view, swaying in the wind as their ends gently brushed against my face. They belonged to the most entrancing pair of sparkling green eyes I had ever seen. Her rosy, plump lips formed a dazzling smile, laughter filling the air as she ran carefree on the beach.

Warmth spread within me, my heart beating faster as a smile crept onto my lips.

What have I done in this life to deserve heaven sending me the most beautiful Angel to stay by my side?

My breath caught as she turned to look at me, appearing even more stunning than I could fathom, bathed in the hues of the sunset.

An Angel, radiant with fiery colors.

“Can the Devil find me?” She chuckled lightly, a teasing glint in her eyes.

“Always. I will always find you, my love.”

“Don’t you die on us, damn it!” My head was violently slapped to the side, and I finally opened my eyes, gasping for air. My chest rapidly rose and fell as I took in my surroundings. “Shit, that was a close call.” Giovanni sighed in relief.

“We need to get you to the hospital -” Antonio was cut off.

“We found explosives! Get away from here, now!”

Without hesitation, they pulled my arms over their shoulders, hoisting me to my feet. I clenched my jaw through the pain, grunting as they hurried away from the castle.

“That bastard really wants to wipe us out once and for all.” Luca sneered.

“Did everyone get out?” My voice strained as my breathing came out fast.

“Save your strength. We have it under control.” Antonio said.

As we approached the car, a sudden thunderous sound boomed behind us, and the blasting wave hit our backs, causing us to stumble to our knees. Shards of rocks were flying everywhere, and I glanced over to see the castle collapsing with bright flames.

“Make sure everyone is okay and gets treated.” I ordered them as I was laid in the backseat of the car. Antonio was with me, making sure to keep pressure on the wound at all times.

“Worry about yourself now. We need you to get better and get our Donna back.” He firmly instructed me, and for once, I listened.

My wife needs me.

I was rushed to the hospital where Ellie tried to convince me to get surgery, but I kept shutting her down while she gave me a blood transfusion and an IV for the pain.

“Give me a temporary solution and whatever meds to keep the pain away.” I demanded.
