Thrust into a world of magic where the veil between life and death is thin, Lucina must navigate a bloodline stained by betrayal, anomalous power, and a demon bound to her soul.

Lucina Carmine was raised as a burden, studying the stars as if there was greener grass tucked between them. On the other side of the continent, the Captain was raised as a weapon, oathbound to protect and serve the Sol—witches forced to evacuate their kingdom after a betrayal led to the fall of their once glorious city.

When a fate-led scrape with death awakens dormant magic within her, Lucina’s life collides with the Captain’s. Faced with the opportunity to uncover her true ancestral lineage, she joins him in Pirn–a hidden refuge for the Sol.

Suspicions rise over her mysterious arrival, and until her bloodline can be revealed, the Captain is ordered to watch her every move. Tensions rise between them, the line of professionalism begins to blur, and the Captain loses what he has spent his whole life guarding–his heart.

But the emergence of her power has provoked something far more sinister, and when Lucina uncovers the full truth about her heritage, perhaps she is the last person he should trust it with.
