“Did you always worship the Blood Moon Goddess?”

“No. My birth pack preferred to dedicate their claws and teeth to much more ruthless Gods. Gods who didn’t care about balance, only might. Taking what you wanted by force. I found the Blood Moon Goddess the day I laid eyes on Mongrel and I’ve never looked back since.”

I kissed him in thanks. It took a fair bit of control for the both of us not to get carried away. Even so, we were both panting when we managed to tear our lips apart. Even bonded, the Chaos hadn’t let up its grip. That lusty fog was always on the horizon, ready to swoop in and addle my senses.

“I wish I could whisk you away to my den and never let you out,” Silver grumbled.

“Yeah. But you said it yourself, my people need me.” I gave him a last peck on the lips and sashayed back toward my room. “Sleep well, my mate.”

BLOW ME, ALPHA

Grimm

Be the bigger man. See to the charges, then be on your way. Just breathe through your mouth, don’t be a chump. And don’t let that incredible smell mess with your head.

Yeah, I was standing outside my mate’s damn door giving myself a pep talk. I had been at it for a while now and I was losing. I was absolutely no closer to being in control of my Chaos-driven desires. Despite the time spent blowing off steam at the range with Mongrel, my wolf was still a mess where this woman was concerned.

I’d passed Carbon on my way here. Dude was sitting outside his own den with his dick in his hands. Figuratively speaking. I could smell Winter wafting out into the corridor. Looked like the broken human had claimed new territory, a space my bossy mate couldn’t follow.

“Heard about your little tussle from Bullet,” Carbon laughed as he saw me passing by like bad news. “Goddess has got you by the balls, too, huh?”

I didn’t answer, merely flipped my brother the bird.

Sadly, my Enforcer was dead on; however, the prospects guarding the corridor were wisely keeping their mouths shut. Pretending they couldn’t see me standing out here like a numb nuts, working up the courage to knock. What was I even going to lead with?

Hey, sorry I roughed up your mate, I’m a jealous bitch. What can I say?

Sasha chose that moment to yank open the door in full warrior-mode. This was a woman ready to slay a motherfucker.

She stood in the doorway, hands on her hips, nightie billowing out round her. Her hair was standing on end like she’d been tossing in bed. I was pleased to see that she’d managed to have a shower, at least, and that the girls had given her a manicure. Her nails looked clean and even now, not ragged and torn from their months of mistreatment, and sported a fresh coat of paint. It provided a subtle sheen of color to an otherwise practical look.

Gods, she was beautiful. Simply beautiful. There was no other word for it. I had to pick my damn jaw off the floor just to stop myself from slobbering over her cute as fuck bare feet.

The wrath on her face, though, forced me back a step. My wolf—who’d been ready to pounce on her the moment she appeared—shuffled back a step too. And whined.

“Wanted to talk to you,” I mumbled, cheeks flaming.

She placed both hands on my chest and shoved me back another step. Once again, my wolf went, willingly ceding territory to his mate. What in the ever-loving fuck was happening? Was this woman set on stripping my man card completely?

“You’ve been out here an hour. A whole fucking hour Grimm,” she hissed, carefully shutting the door behind her. “Whining and scratching at the door so loud I couldn’t sleep.”

Sasha brushed past me and stomped off down the corridor clearly expecting me to follow. And I did. Like a dog on a leash, while the animal inside me was anything but tame. My own rage was building to match hers quite nicely now, not stuck in my own version of hell second-guessing my every move.

“I see Winter left her hideyhole,” I called after Sasha.

My fluid steps stumbled to a halt for a moment at the hateful look she lobbed in my direction. Okay then, don’t inquire as to the health and well-being of her people. Message received. Except I wasn’t too good at taking orders, I was much better at dishing them out.

“Don’t walk away from me when I’m addressing you,” I growled.

Sasha was pounding down the corridor now, with angry stomps that echoed all the way through the clubhouse. I winced. Damn, she was going to wake up every brother who was already sleeping with this racket. I grabbed her shoulder when I finally caught up to her in the stairwell and she whirled on me, pinning me to the wall with her eyes.

“What do you want, Grimm?” she snarled.

“Look, I stopped by Carbon’s room, and Winter is fine. He’s sleeping on the floor like a gentleman. You don’t need to get so worked up.”

I rolled my neck, enjoying the pop of relief it gave and leaned against the wall opposite her. Crossing my arms over my chest, I studied the woman as she glared daggers at me. Sexy fucking daggers. Tiny messages of rage which sent shivers down my spine and tightened my balls.
