“Weird.” I look up at the ceiling, ignoring him as he happily rubs his feet together. “So… does your family know where you are?”

“My sisters do.” He rolls onto his back. “My parents don’t. And I turned my phone off, so they’ll be pissed.”

I turn my head to look at him and he just shrugs. “They’ll get over it. I’m used to letting them down.”

But I see the hurt.

He keeps his eyes on the ceiling, so I gently nudge his arm. He rolls his head to the side, meeting my eyes once again.

“Thanks for coming.”

Luca smiles with a slight nod. “Thanks for making me come.”

“Jesus Christ,” I mutter, turning away from him again.

“Yeah, that’s right. Merry fucking Christmas, by the way.” He sits up, looking down at me, beaming. “What were you going to do today?”

I shrug. “No real plans. Adão and Seb texted yesterday about doing something, since they also didn’t go home.”

Luca gasps so suddenly that I jump.

“What?” I sit up, confused and worried.

He stares back at me. “Oh my god. You… made plans… with friends? The growth Tyler. The growth!”

“Fuck off.” I rub a hand over my face. “And there’s no plans in place, they just asked if I wanted to go to Seb’s.”

“And you said yes?” he asks excitedly, reaching out to pull my hand off my face.

I smack his hand away. “God you’re fucking annoying.”

Luca smiles. “Well, we’re going.”

I nod slowly, looking away from him.

“What now?”

“I was going to go to the gym too,” I say with a sigh.

“Of course you fucking were.”

I turn back to him, waiting for the quips and jokes.

But he just nods.

“Fine.” He throws the covers back and stands up. He’s naked, except for the unicorn socks. “I’ll go to the gym with you if you suck my dick in the shower while I drink coffee. Then we’re going to Seb’s.”

He doesn’t give me an opportunity to answer, as he turns and leaves the room.

The sound of the shower starting up mixes with his voice yelling back to me, “You start the coffee, I’ll get myself warmed up!”

“So, when it says half a cup…” Seb squints at the recipe and then looks up at Luca as he effortlessly measures out half a cup of sugar.

“It means half a cup, Seb,” Luca glances over his shoulder at him, and Seb just shrugs.

“Oh, cool.”

Adão chuckles beside me as we sit on the stools at the kitchen counter, watching Luca teach Seb how to bake cookies.
