The second thing he could be calling about is the valuation he did on one of the properties I’m thinking of selling. He and Knight own Graysons LP, a real estate and property development company. They’re also the latest to invest with Le Blanche Global, thanks to their friendship with me.

“Hey, man,” I greet, summoning cheerfulness I absolutely don’t feel. “Please tell me you found my girl.”

“Sorry to break it to you, man, but I don’t think even I can find her with the little information you gave me. Although I love that you thought she might be going by the name of Venus because it sounds cool.” Jericho sounds like he’s humoring me.

“She liked it.” She did. She blushed every time I called her Venus. “Is there really nothing more you can do?”

“I don’t think so. And before you ask, yes, I did pull the footage from the Blue Moon. I saw you but couldn’t get a good view of her face.”

Damn it.That’s it, then. I really have to give up on my search.

“Thanks for looking.”

“No worries. I gotta say, though, that at first I didn’t take you seriously.”

“Well, Iseriouslywanted to find her.”

“No shit. Listen, I’ll keep my eyes open and see what happens.”

“I owe you.”

“Yeah, you do. Anyway, I just wanted to catch you before you come by later. Looks like I might have all the work done for you on that house of yours. It’s ready for sale. If you sign off on the paperwork today, we could discuss the next steps.”

“That would be great. It’s—” My voice cuts as my eyes land on a blonde woman getting out of a silver Porsche in the parking lot.

A blonde woman who looks exactly like my Venus.

I stare for a few long moments, watching her as I try to establish if my eyes are screwing with me, but I don’t know.

Do I want to find her so badly that I’ve gone insane? Or maybe the one hit to the head I took from Evan is finally rearing its ugly head.

Dressed in a light baby pink summer dress, the blonde beauty bends over to retrieve something from her car and I take in a good view of her ass. Round and perfect and the memory of touching it alive in my hands.

But it can’t be her.

And here?

Here in New York, on the other side of the country, at the same fundraiser as me?

She retrieves two baskets full of mini roses from her car, and I get another look at her face. Her beautiful, beautiful face I saw so often in my dreams asleep and awake. There’s no possible way I’d forget her.

At that moment, I get the confirmation I was searching for.

It’s her.

God, it’s actually her.

She slides the basket under her arm, closes the car door, and makes her way to the side entrance of the building. If I’m not mistaken, that leads to the hall where the speeches will be given.

“Luc, are you listening to me?” Jericho’s hasty voice pulls me back.

“Jericho, I found her.”

“What? Who are you talking about?”

“Venus. She’s here.” My whisper is low and reflective, my brain still trying to process that I’m truly seeing her. “She’s here at the fundraiser.”

“Fucking hell.” Jericho sounds as shocked as I feel. “That’s one hell of a coincidence.”
