"What are you doing in my room?"

"The maid let me in. I thought I'd come up here and take a tour of your mind. Maybe look at the stuff you won't share with me. Like this." He taps the computer screen again. "And this."

He flicks the screen to a picture of me and Luc on our date night, and I swear my heart stops beating. Luc and I took that picture before we went to the manor.

I didn’t have that picture up this morning, so Evan has been looking through my files.

“When did you get so dressed up for him? Or maybe it’s him you’re dating. That’s why you won’t even kiss me, isn’t it?"

"I'm not dating him." I try to keep my voice steady to make it sound like the truth, but I'm too shaken and sick to get it right. “Luc and I ran into each other at the club when I was out with Zoe.”

"You always have an answer for everything, don't you? I should have guessed before that you were fucking Le Blanche and using me as a pawn. But guess what? Don’t believe I haven’t been fucking around, too."

Damn it to hell. He’s figured me out, and he might tell Dad.

"You need to leave now."

Evan gets up so fast the chair falls over and my bones quiver as I witness the violent side of him I read about. Details of his infamous temper was in the papers after the fight between him and Luc.

He marches up to me and stops in my personal space, baring his teeth like an animal. "You need to watch how you talk to me."

"You need to leave."

Evan simply laughs and throws the beer can into the wall, making the contents splash all over my dresser. He steps to my left, making me think he's going to go outside the door, but instead he grabs my arm and slams the door shut.

"Let go of me." I wince, unable to believe what he's doing.

He tightens his grip on me and shoves me hard against the wall. Then he covers my mouth to muffle my cries as I attempt to scream.

"I don't think I'll be letting go of you, Autumn Jakobe. I think it's time I get some of what you're giving Le Blanche."

I fight him but he's too strong and too big. Of course he is. He plays defense for the team. It's his job to be strong.

How am I supposed to get away from him? When I try to knee him in the crotch, he grabs my leg and then tears my shirt off.

“Little bitch. How dare you try to fight me?” He grabs my neck and squeezes so tight and hard that stars speckle my vision.

I lose air fast and black spots dance before me. I can’t breathe. Can’t think. Can’t save myself.

The next thing I hear is the sound of his belt buckle clinking. The dark thought hits me that he’s going to rape me.

I barely register that when the door opens and someone comes in. Evan releases me, but I'm so weak I slump to the floor. The air rushing back into my lungs makes my head hurt but I manage to look up and see who came in to save me.

I get another shock when I find Charlotte standing there.

"Hey, Charlotte," Evan says, trying to sound as casual and laid back as he normally does around my family.

Charlotte takes one look at me shaking on the floor before she returns her focus to him and intensifies her stare. There's no mistaking what happened here, so Evan shouldn’t even try to make it look like anything other than the fact that he just attacked me.

"Get out!" Charlotte shouts, surprising me further.

"Relax. We were just having some fun." Evan does that stupid laugh again.

“I said get out. Get the fuck out before I call the police."

Evan shakes his head. "Crazy fucking bitches." He does up his belt and mutters something else before walking out.

I try to stand, but I'm shaking too much and my mind is too disoriented.
