The crowd is silent for a moment, then there’s cheering and whistling and more catcalls, and a drunk guy yells, “Take the rest off!”

Darius’s eyes are trained directly on my chest, and I follow his gaze. I’m standing completely topless in the middle of the pool for all to see.

Great.

“What? You’ve never seen boobs before? Grow up!” I yell to no one in particular.

Somehow, I notice Kiara, who looks a bit too smug and satisfied. She did this on purpose. I was in a string bikini; it wouldn’t be hard to pull off.

“Faye!” I turn as Kellan, who’s now standing on the side of the pool with a concerned but amused grin, throws a towel at me.

I snatch it but don’t make a move to cover up. Somehow, I feel like that would admit defeat to Kiara, and I’m nothing if not prideful. I walk out of the pool with as much confidence as I can muster, and only once I’m completely out do I wrap the towel around myself.

Everyone’s still staring at me, so with a flourish of my arms, I announce, “Hope you enjoyed the show!” I’m met with more cheers and whistles, which just makes me laugh.

Kiara’s glowering in the pool, and my smile widens even more.Ha!Did she expect me to run off with my tail tucked between my legs? Clearly, she doesn’t know who she’s messing with. Fayanna Murray doesn’t know the definition of shame.

“If you wanted to get naked, all you had to do was tell me, and we could’ve gone back to my room.” Darius winks, and this time I actually roll my eyes.

“Don’t get ahead of yourself,” I tell him, fixing the towel so I don’t need to hold it up.

“Are you okay, Faye?” Kellan asks as he approaches us.

I glance around at all the guys checking me out and realize this is a great opportunity to make him jealous.

“Never been better,” I tell him, watching as a tall, tan guy comes up to me.

“Why haven’t I been lucky enough to cross paths with you yet?” New Guy asks with a charming smile, and I turn to give him all my attention.

“Well, it looks like today is your lucky day,” I shoot back, mentally reminding myself not to look at Kellan.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on how you see it, I don’t have to, because Kellan clears his throat over whatever New Guy is saying. “Okay, have fun, Faye,” he says before turning to leave with Kiara.

I scowl. He’s not jealous. Not in the slightest. He wasn’t bothered by my flirting with Darius, and he doesn’t care that all these guys are falling over themselves to talk to me. Obviously I knowwhythey suddenly want to talk to me, but so should he.

Doesn’t he care about me? Even a little?

Suddenly, I don’t want to talk to any of these guys. I don’t even want to be at this party, surrounded by all these people having fun and laughing and flirting. The last thing I want to do is watch Kellan and Kiara swap spit and hear Kiara’s stupid gloating in my mind.

When I tune in, New Guy is saying something about going to the bar, Darius is saying that we made a great team, and about four other guys are saying something to me that I don’t care to remember.

“Maybe another time,” I announce to them all before leaving to find Lori.

She’s easy to spot, since she’s with Dylan and Dean. The cousins make an eye-catching pair, both tall and broad-shouldered.

“Hey, Faye,” she greets when she sees me, then pauses. “Are you not wearing clothes under that?”

I glance down at the towel. “Bottoms, yes. Top, no. Long story. But I forgot my key card, can I use yours?”

Lori glances around, presumably wondering if I’m heading back with Kellan since it’s still early.

“Just me tonight,” I tell her before she can ask. “I’m not really in the party mood. I’ll let you in when you knock.”

She frowns. “Is everything okay? Want me to come back with you?”

I eye Dean and Dylan, who are each taking a shot a few feet away from us. “Everything’s fine. You stay, have fun. I just want some alone time.”

I can tell from her face that she doesn’t believe me, but I do just want to be alone. She reaches into the pocket of her jean shorts and pulls out her key card.
