“Yeah, why not? I can always replace it with something nicer,” I say, falling back onto my pillow and pulling her with me.

“Let’s just not stress about that right now. I’m tired,” I say around a yawn.

“Oh, are you?” Her mischievous tone has me cutting my eyes back in her direction. “That’s too bad. I was in a rewarding kind of mood, but if you’re too tired,” she starts to lay back and I quickly roll over her.

“And suddenly, I’m wide awake,” I say, earning a laugh from my beautiful girl.

Leaning down, I take her lips with mine and vow to make things better for her, no matter what it takes.

Chapter 49

We pull up outside Milo’s family shop and I can hardly contain myself. The drive over from Bodhi’s house wasn’t too long, but I’m so excited to finally have the Camaro back.

“Wait up, Princess,” I hear Bodhi call from behind me.

“Aren’t you supposed to be the one with longer legs? Hurry,” I laugh, walking backward until he catches up to me.

He throws his arms around my shoulder and presses a kiss to the side of my head.

“Well, this is different,” Milo calls out as he exits the garage and walks toward us.

“An improvement,” Bodhi replies, greeting his friend with one of those weird handshake-hugs that guys do.

“Yeah, I guess so,” he laughs before turning to greet me, “Hey Keaton, how’s it going?”

“Better now,” I smile.

“Hopefully this one isn’t being too much of a dipshit?” Milo gestures toward Bodhi, earning him a slap to the back of the head.

“I’m never too much of a dipshit, just the right amount,” Bodhi straightens out his shirt, looking offended, but I can see that they’re only goofing around.

“Actually, I was talking about the car, but I can handle Bodhi just fine,” I say and turn to see Bodhi waggling his brows at me.

“Yeah, you can,” he teases.

“Like it’s difficult,” Milo jokes.

He turns around and has us follow him back inside.

And there she is. Sleek and black and looking brand new. Like… really brand new.

“Holy shit, Milo. This is…” I’m lost for words, completely overwhelmed by the amount of work I know he had to have put into this. The car looks newer now than when Eli first got her running.

“Bitchin’,” Milo nods, standing back to admire his work.

“No… I mean, yes. But no. This is way too much. It looks brand new,” I say, still gawking over the pristine condition my brother’s car is in now. I’m afraid to look under the hood.

“Well, thank you, but that was all his doing,” he points toward Bodhi who is standing back, taking in my expression, “I just did the work.”

“Bodhi,” I say his name on a whisper, stunned.

He approaches me, a knowing grin pulling at the corners of his mouth.

“Just say thank you and kiss me.” He slides his hand into my hair and pulls me into him, sealing his lips over mine in a tender and heartfelt kiss.

I lean my forehead against his, resting my hands on his sides. “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome, babe.”
