Austin's grip on my hand tightened. “And?”

I sighed. “I said yes. But deep down, I think I knew it wasn't right. It wasn't...” I trailed off, searching for the right words. “It wasn't us,” I finally said, looking into Austin’s eyes.

He nodded, understanding without me having to explain further. “You deserve so much more, Paisley.”

The weight of old memories felt heavy, but Austin's presence was a balm. Here, in this city of my past, I was building new memories with him. And despite the chaos of emotions swirling within me, I felt hopeful about our future.

The car pulled up in front of a luxurious hotel, breaking my train of thought. Austin helped me out, our fingers still intertwined.

“Look, I know this trip is difficult for you,” he began, his voice soft, “with all the memories and such. But remember, we're making new ones now. Better ones. Together.”

I looked up at him, tears glistening in my eyes. “I love you.”

He smiled, drawing me into his embrace. “I love you more.”

As we stepped into the hotel, the city lights twinkling behind us, I felt a mix of emotions - nostalgia, apprehension, love, hope. New York, with all its memories, was a part of my past.

“You sure you’re okay with this?” Austin’s voice broke through my thoughts as we stood in the grand entrance of the hotel. The opulence was immediately noticeable, but it was different. It wasn’t gaudy or over the top. It was tasteful luxury.

I looked around, taking in the marble floor with intricate patterns, the crystal chandeliers hanging from the vaulted ceilings, and the lush velvet drapes framing the large windows. “This is... something else,” I admitted.

“It's a bit more understated than most,” Austin replied with a smile. “I prefer quality over the usual billionaire bling.”

I laughed. “Benjamin had that ‘bling.’ Everything was always about appearances with him.” The memory of Benjamin's penthouse, with its flashy art pieces and gold-accented furniture, flashed through my mind. Austin’s choice was in stark contrast.

A bellboy led us to our suite, and I was once again stunned. We entered through a large wooden door into a spacious living area. The color palette was a mixture of deep blues and gold, with touches of white. A plush navy-blue velvet sofa faced a sleek, modern fireplace, its flames dancing behind a glass panel. Large floor-to-ceiling windows offered a panoramic view of the city skyline, twinkling in the night.

“This is amazing,” I whispered, drawn to the windows. The city stretched out before me, alive and vibrant. The twinkling lights merged with the stars, creating a celestial dance of their own.

“It’s one of my favorite places in the city,” Austin confessed, wrapping his arms around me from behind. “Private, luxurious, and with a view to die for.”

We explored the suite further. To the right of the living area was a grand kitchen, with black granite countertops and state-of-the-art stainless-steel appliances. The cabinets, painted a deep shade of blue, complemented the overall theme of the room.

Next was the bedroom. The king-sized bed sat majestically in the center, adorned with soft white linens and an array of navy and gold cushions. A plush carpet covered the floor, and I couldn’t resist the urge to kick off my shoes and sink my toes into its depths. Above the bed, a crystal chandelier cast a soft, romantic glow.

But it was the bathroom that truly took my breath away. A large marble tub sat under a window, offering views of the city while ensuring utmost privacy. Gold fixtures gleamed in the light. A separate glass-enclosed rain shower beckoned, with multiple jets promising a decadent experience.

“This is... I don’t even have words,” I admitted, looking around in awe.

Austin chuckled. “Thought you’d like it.” He stepped closer, his eyes darkening with desire. “Maybe later, we can try out that tub. Or the shower. Or the bed...”

I laughed, playfully pushing him away. “One step at a time, billionaire boy.”

He grinned, his fingers dancing over the small of my back, sending shivers down my spine. “Anytime you’re ready.”

We decided to order room service, and as I settled on the soft couch, sipping a glass of fine wine, I couldn’t help but marvel at the life Austin led. It was luxurious, yes, but it was also tasteful. He had a style, a signature, that made everything uniquely him.

“You look melancholy,” he observed as I settled down on the plush bed. The soft fabrics wrapped around me, but the comforting embrace of the linens was in stark contrast to the whirlwind of emotions inside.

I shrugged, twirling a stray strand of hair around my finger. “It’s weird being back here,” I admitted, glancing at the sprawling cityscape outside. Each shimmering light represented a memory, and the weight of them felt heavy.

Austin approached the bed, his footsteps muffled by the thick carpet. He paused for a moment, studying me with those deep-set eyes, before leaning in. His lips met mine in a gentle, lingering kiss. As he deepened the kiss, his body moved fluidly, and before I knew it, I was leaning backward, the soft pillows cushioning my head. He hovered over me, his body casting a warm shadow.

“Is there anything I can do to help?” he whispered against my lips, the warmth of his breath mixing with mine.

I shrugged again, a little lost in the sensation of him being so close. His fingers traced patterns on my arm, sending little jolts of electricity through me.

A mischievous glint appeared in his eyes, transforming his whole demeanor. “I can think of something,” he murmured. Before I could react, he began to pepper soft kisses on my chest, his hands skillfully tugging at the hem of my dress.
