I wasn’t letting him make me afraid anymore. I charged, and shoved him. He slammed into the wall.

“Run, Daisy!”

The little girl shot out of the room like a baby cheetah.

Scott bellowed, but I shoved him again. I wasn’t letting him get her.

He pulled a fist back, then punched me in the stomach.

Oh, ow. That hurt. I doubled over, the air rushing out of me. It hurt to breathe.

“You never listen. You have to learn to listen, Macy.” He clamped a hand around my throat. “Youwilllove me.”

Nothing mattered now. Daisy was free.

COLT

We found the Chevy truck abandoned in a side street. Boone had beaten us there and was standing beside it.

The tall man shook his head. “It’s empty.”

I kicked the front wheel and gritted my teeth.

“Easy.” Beau gripped my shoulder.

“She’s not here. My little girl is out there, somewhere, afraid.”

“We are going to find her.”

I managed a nod. My chest was so fucking tight. I saw Reath on his phone, frowning. I stiffened.

He finished the call and met my gaze.

“What?” I growled.

“Macy left the warehouse.”

“Why?” Shit, I hadn’t left any security for her.

“She stopped in at your office, sent some emails…” Reath’s voice drifted off.

“Reath.” I started to feel sick. “Tell me.”

“Warner had sent her the same photos he’d left you on your vehicle.”

“Fuck.”

“She deleted them. Protecting you, would be my guess.”

I felt the pressure building behind my eyes. “And?”

“She used the email to contact Warner. Offered herself in trade for Daisy.”

“Fucking hell.” The ground moved under me. No. Warner was not sane when it came to Macy. “Where is she now?”

“He sent her an address. An empty house for sale on the edge of the Garden District.”
