“It happens. I thought she’d come back here.”

“Can’t you track her through the pin?” We make everyone take extra precautions when they’re using the woods for a scene or a chase. Candy shouldn’t have been any different.

“She’s not wearing it. She never put her jacket back on after…”

“For fucks’ sake,” I snap. We have rules for a reason. “Have you spoken to the others? Maybe they have eyes on her out there?”

“The only one I can’t get hold of is Dash. No-one else has seen her, they’re on their way back to the club now.”

“Maybe she’s with Dash then.”

“But he’s not responding.”

“He’s probably busy.”

Wint blinks and then looks around the empty space. “Why’s it so empty in here?”

“Dungeon’s closed to members now. I thought Candy’s first time should be private.”

“That’s…considerate,” he replies carefully, his eyes narrowed in concentration.

“I can be nice. Sometimes.”

“Well as she’s clearly not here, and you don’t need to oversee anyone, can you lock up and help me look for her?”

“Of course. I’ll be right there.”

I follow him out of the dungeon, locking the door behind me, while wondering where Candy may have got to. Wint seems a little worried, but I’m not sure why. He’s been acting weird since he went out with Candy yesterday, but we’ve not really had time to properly catch up.

When we reach the main bar, it’s virtually deserted. I glance around the space and then beckon Frost over.

“Where is everyone?”

“Snow’s getting bad, so most people have taken off or are just finishing up and then will be leaving. Hope you don’t mind, I sent most of the staff home too.”

“No worries. Who’s still here?”

“Carol, Vixen, Nick, Noel and the twins.”

“Okay, that’s good. Let them go as soon as the members have all gone, don’t worry about clearing up or restocking or anything. Let’s try to get everyone home safe and sound as soon as possible.”

“Carol walked here tonight.”

“We can drop her off en route, no problem.”

“Thanks, she’ll appreciate that.”

“Okay. Have you seen Candy or Dash?” Wint cuts in, coming back from searching the viewing rooms.”

Frost shakes his head. “Not since we were in the woods.”

I pull my phone out and call Dash. It goes straight to voicemail. Odd. Maybe the battery is dead. He’s been distracted this week, maybe he didn’t charge it last night.

Don joins us. “Have you guys seen Candy?”

I shake my head. “Nope, her and Dash are unaccounted for.”

“Playing?”
