He shakes his head and my stomach twists painfully. He stares at his feet, his fingers knotting together like my gut is. “I sold front row tickets to watch you on camera.”

Blind by tears, I don’t wait to hear any more. I turn and run, leaving him shouting after me. I hope he doesn’t follow, doesn’t chase me. This isn’t a game. It was my heart on the line and it just got crushed.

Crashing through the fire exit door, I escape into the cold. My heart is beating so fast I can barely breathe. But this time I’m not exhilarated to continue the game, my heart is breaking.

A figure dressed all in black, smoking a cigarette, steps out of the shadows. I frown and squint through my blurry tears. Do any of the guys smoke? I realise that I don’t know the answer to that. I can’t see their face, but it’s definitely not one of the guys from the club. I can just tell. My instincts are now screaming at me to go back inside, but the fire door is closed and it can only be opened from the inside.

The figure tosses the cigarette to the ground.

“Who are you?” I ask, my voice shaking as I glance over my shoulder for Dash. Now I’m wishing he followed me because my whole body feels like it’s crawling in spiders and Candy from the streets knows that something bad is about to go down.

The figure steps forward, into the light and comes closer.

“What a pretty little thing,” he says, his voice low and menacing. Unlike when Wint speaks like that, it’s not seductive at all. “What are you doing out here all alone?”

“I’m not alone, and you shouldn’t be here.”

As the figure steps even closer to me, I realise he’s much taller than I am. He’s also broader and his movements are much more menacing than Don’s as the masked man’s were. My heart is pounding as fear courses through me. I take a step back, but he lurches forward and grabs my arm, pulling me in close. The cigarette smoke on his breath makes me gag, and I try to turn away, but his grip is too strong.

“Let go of me,” I say, my voice wavering.

“Not until my boss gets what he wants,” he replies, his grip tightening.

I don’t understand. What boss? What’s going on? Has this guy been sent after me by my landlord?

“Look, if it’s about the missing rent, I can pay it.”

I struggle against him, but he’s much too strong. He laughs.

There’s a sharp pain in my neck, and my vision starts to blur as the car park sways and the floor rushes up to meet me. The last thing I remember before everything goes black is heavy footsteps approaching and the sound of a sliding van door opening.

NORTH

I glance at my watch and frown. They should have brought her in by now. I’m growing impatient. I’ve been dying to drag Candy down here to my dungeon since the day she arrived, but I’ve waited and bided my time. Tonight’s meant to be my turn to play, and yet Wint is taking his sweet time in delivering our captive.

Not that I can really blame him. She’s a fucking goddess. If he’s caught her, he’ll want to take his time worshipping her.

But I don’t have time for that. I need to have her now. My blood is on fire, and my dick is aching for her. I pace around the room, trying to calm my nerves. It doesn’t help. I need Candy, and I need her now.

Finally, there’s the telltale sound of the door opening, and my heart races. I stand up from the chair I’ve been sitting on and take a deep breath, trying to calm my nerves. The anticipation is almost too much to bear, but I can’t let myself get carried away. Not yet.

When Wint rushes in without Candy. Where the fuck is she? Did she baulk at the idea of being in the dungeon? Or of being down here with me? I swear if Wint tired her out too much I’ll punch him.

“Is Candy here?” he asks, out of breath.

“No. I’ve been waiting for you to bring her in.”

“Fuck.” He scrubs his hand through his hair, and his clear distress makes me concerned.

“What’s going on? Didn’t you catch her?”

“I caught her just fine and we had a great time. But she decided to race off again and she got away from me.”

“So? She can’t have gotten that far ahead.”

“I tripped.”

“You tripped?” I chuckle, and it earns me a filthy look from Wint.
