Page 53 of Tempting the Maiden

“Tuck,” she breathed again and again.

I pushed up when she pushed down. I slid my free hand to her perfect rear, keeping our bodies jammed tight. I cracked my eyes open, soaking in the sight of her coming undone.

“Don’t stop,” I whispered through locked teeth, afraid that coming now would break the magic spell.

“Never…” She moaned, throwing her head back.

With a long, sharp cry, she came, triggering my own release. We shuddered and held on to each other, awash in pure pleasure that went on and on.

Marian moaned with an aftershock, then slowly slumped over me. Her hand went flat, mirroring the way her body came to rest over mine. Still, that feeling of togetherness remained.

“That’s the idea,” she murmured into my shoulder. “To be united through thick and thin.”

Minutes later, I mumbled in awe.

“What?” she asked, raising her head.

“And I thought unicorns were the best-kept secret in the land…”

She laughed. “We’re not?”

I shook my head. “That’s topped by sex with a unicorn.”

Her smile was a burst of sunlight in my muddled brain. “Ah, how little you know.”

My eyes went wide. “If you have some other unicorn tricks to share, I’m all ears.” Then I glanced down. “Or all, er…other things.”

She play-smacked me.

“I’ll be sure to let you know. And that wasn’t ordinary sex with a unicorn shifter…”

There she went again, mixing words that didn’t: ordinary, sex, and unicorn. Or did she think I got around more than I did?

“…it was bonding with a unicorn.” Her tone underlined the gravity of the occasion.

“You mean Arthur and George didn’t get that treatment?”

She shook her head. “Absolutely not. I’ve never tried it before, actually.” She nuzzled my cheek. “And I never will — except with you, dear knight.”

I held her long and tight, fighting away the outside world. The next day was bound to bring an unexpected shitstorm or two, but that wouldn’t stop me from cherishing every minute of this night. I let go of the bad, allowing my mind to wander only in a world of good.

Then I laughed — and laughed.

“What now?” Marian demanded.

“Just wait until I tell Cyril,” I barely got out between sidesplitting hoots.

“Tell whom?” Her tone threatened me with a thousand painful deaths if I ever told anyone.

I collected myself long enough to explain. “Just joking. But, still. Picture Cyril — the one who draws dirty things in the margins of books — finding out about unicorn bonding.”

Marian’s laughter joined mine. “Please, no. He’ll get it all wrong and draw us doggy-style.”

I waggled my eyebrows. “Now there’s an idea.”

She turned into the scoop of my arms and wiggled her rear. “Not just an idea, my dear knight. More like a promise.”

I grinned from ear to ear. The woman could wield a sword and a dagger. She could set booby traps. She could gallop through an entire night without tiring on her own four feet. And she knew what she wanted in bed, too?
