Instead, she wrapped her arms around me and whispered, “Take me home, Dusty. I need more training. I’m not enough.”

I didn’t know what was going on between Dusty and Natalie, but one thing was for sure, they were more than mere friends.

“Believe me,” he told her as she held onto him like a baby who clamps onto its mother’s nipple, not wanting to ever let go. “He can’t wait to fuck you as his wife.”

My jaw about fell on the floor. Of all the things for someone to say to a bride with frigid feet, those wouldn’t be the words I expected to hear.

“That can’t be true,” she said, sounding as if she were about to cry. “He probably thinks I’m a complete fraud.”

“Are we talking about the bedroom here? Because we both know that’s not true.” Dustin gazed into her eyes while he slipped a finger under her regal chin. “He confessed that you two have mind-blowing sex. Admitted it to both Gabe and me right before we all jumped into the limo to get here. He said you’re stellar in bed. This is a perfect match, Natalie. You’re his perfect match.”

Again, more intimate facial touching along with some tight, body-to-body hugging. What woman would hug a guy like that, unless… holy shit!

That was when it hit me right in the gut.

“Oh my God, you two did have sex. You had sex with your brother’s best friend.” I about fell over with that actual revelation. It was one thing to speculate, but to know it actually happened blew me away… and caused pure anger to bubble up.

“It’s not what you think,” Natalie shot back, still holding onto her Dusty.

She looked positively beautiful, like Bride Magazine cover girl beautiful. She wore a strapless number that showed the right amount of cleavage. The top was all lace and beads with a dash of sparkle. The bottom had been created with yards of white tule, with streaks of more lace and beads that sparkled. The more I stared at the dress, which I helped pick out, the more the swirls of soft pink broke through in the sunlight that seemed to hold her in its grasp. She didn’t wear a veil, just a small fascinator on the side of her head with more of that swirly lace and beads. Her dark hair was pulled up off her shoulders, with a few stray long whisps around her face. Natalie was the absolute epitome of the textbook bride, regardless of her apparent affair with one of her brother’s best friends

I could hardly believe it.

There she stood, clutching another man, illuminated by the sunlight pouring in through the stained-glass window, surrounded by bouquets for the bridesmaids, yards of white tule and lace, telling her lover to take her home.

I was so angry I wanted to scream. Still, I intended to remain somewhat professional.

But what the actual fuck!?!?

“So, you’re not denying it?” I asked, borderline losing it. “And all this time… even now, you’re still trying to keep Cody and me apart. Why? Could it be because you think if we fall for each other, I’ll somehow lose focus on your wedding? Go brain dead from all the sex? Is that it? Is that the reason? This is all about you, isn’t it? What the fuck, Natalie? You’re the bride, and you’re messing around with Cody’s best friend? What’s that all about? Or does this have something to do with stacking? Like how many men can you fuck at once? Does this mean you’re having sex with Gabe as well? I mean, why not? The more in the stack the better, right? How the hell does this work, Natalie? Because I’m not understanding any of it.”

Okay, I lost it, but in my defense, can you blame me? All this time… all this lost time.

“Now is not the…” she began, but I cut her off.

“Oh, yes, it fucking is. It’s exactly the right time. How long have you two been…”

“Fucking?” Dustin asked without hesitation.

Fine, I could use that word to describe their affair as easily as he could.

“Yes, fucking. How long?” I reiterated. “And are you still… fucking?”

“It’s not like that,” she said, turning to me now, eyes wet with tears. Those alligator tears didn’t impress me. I knew she could turn them on and off whenever she wanted to. She’d learned that tactic when she was nine and her parents gave her a rash about too many overnights at her friends’ houses. “Two weeks. We had a two-week affair, but that was a long time ago. It was never a relationship in the true sense of the word.”

“Then what the hell was it?” I spat out, not caring if they thought the affair wasn’t my business.

“More like a teacher-student kind of thing,” she cooed, then grinned up at Dustin, as if they shared a truly intimate secret, which transcended mere fucking.

I could hardly believe what I was hearing: teacher-student? What the hell?

“Oh, this just keeps getting better and better. Do I even want to know who played what role?” I asked as the different scenarios flipped through my head.

“It was strictly professional,” Dustin said. “She wanted to increase her abilities before she had sex with Bernard, and I offered to help.”

“I bet you did,” I shot back, grinning, crossing my arms in defiance.
