I'm talking to Dad at the bar, laughing, and finally, everything's happy again when the door slams open, and we both freeze, seeing my egg donor stalk through like she owns the place.
When she pulls a knife out, holding it out to where my girl is, I instantly go to take a step, but my dad stops me, shaking his head.
Right, wait for the right moment.
Got it.
Fuck, I've not got it; that's my whole world she's trying to fucking threaten. I watch in horror as the woman who birthed me turns crazy right before my eyes. Gunner is trying to get closer, but Sophie seems to think it's for Leah, and partly it is, but mostly he was going to stand in front of her, but his plan fucking fails because my girl does the bravest and stupidest thing: she shoves her friend towards Gunner, who has no choice but to catch her.
"Sophie, no."
Leah's voice is full of pain, realizing what my girls just did while my heart is in my throat.
Axel tries to get her attention, but all it does is make us more tense.
She fucking stabbed Shane.
Shit, shit, shit.
I look towards my girl; she's scared, and I can't stand here anymore. I start to walk towards her gently and quietly while my dad growls at me, but I ignore him. This is his fault; he should have fucking killed her when we told him to.
She's my girl; I can't lose her, not now, not when she's finally come back to me again after being so lost.
My mother taunts me again, but I'm nearly near Sophie. I'm nearly near my girl; once I'm in front of her, she won't hurt her. Fuck, why hasn't anyone shot her yet? Oh yeah, because she used to be a fucking old lady and still technically is because Dad hasn't divorced her yet and declared it with the club, so only he can fucking kill her, fucking damn biker laws.
"Now, what to do with the whore who thinks she can trap MY son, hmm. Oh, I know…"
As she trailed her sentence off, she rushed towards Sophie, but I got to her first. I have to twist to cover her front before my eyes connect with her panicky ones, and then I feel it. I feel the knife go into my side.
I hear my egg donor scream "NO, NO, NO, NO" before a shot goes off, and then there's a lump on the floor. I struggle to breathe as Sophie's eyes fill with tears, and she shakes her head before she screams out as I fall to my knees with her following suit.
I lay on the ground with Sophie over me as she tried to stop the bleeding, tears running down her face while all the brothers roared out before a load of stomping feet came near me.
I slowly lift my arm, putting my hand on my girl's cheek, her eyes full of heartbreak and pain before I rasp, "I love you."
Then my eyes closed, Sophie's screams echoing through my mind.
Chapter 29
Sophie
I scream as Gunner holds onto me tightly from behind before Leah wraps her arms around me from the front.
My body's shaking while my eyes stay on the love of my life.
"I can't; I can't lose h-him too."
Leah holds me tighter; I can feel her tears on my shoulder while Gunner has us both.
"You won't lose him, darling; he'd never leave you."
I look up to see Stormy pacing with his gun in one hand and his phone in the other, placed at his ear, as his eyes stay on his son.
