“Not materialistic,” True said.

“Although I own a bar and guesthouse,” Hope said and frowned. “That now has a ghost in it.”

“That might be a selling point, should it ever come to it,” Dani said, smiling. “Some people like ghosts.”

“I don’t like ghosts,” True said, a shiver claiming her spine.

“I’m not materialistic either,” Hope said, finishing her chain of thought. “I just don’t want to work for someone else and put up with their crap.”

“Bosses are the worst,” Amy said, chuckling.

“Amen to that,” Faith said.

“Umm, hello?” Hope said, pointing to her chest.

“Not you,” Amy replied but then rolled her eyes.

“Heaven forbid,” Dani said, smiling.

“Perish the thought,” Faith added.

When Hope stared at True, the witch waved a hand toward Hope. “You’re a pain in the butt, but we love you.”

“Gee, thanks,” Hope replied. Then she shook her head. “What was Nana thinking, inviting a ghost into the guesthouse?” she said, as much to herself as to the group.

“Nana logic,” True said. “The ghost was homeless because she’d pulled it from the ship, and it needed somewhere to stay. The guesthouse was the next best place.”

“But why pull it from the ship?” Amy asked.

True shrugged. “Nana logic.”

Faith liked the idea. “Study it up close and personal and find out if it had anything else to say for itself.”

“You’re just looking for the treasure map,” Hope said.

“Too right I am,” Faith said, smiling.

True shook her head. “And throwing people under the bus to get it.”

Faith rolled her eyes to the ceiling and down to her sister. “I did not throw you under the bus; fate did, and look, you’re happy, aren’t you?”

True frowned. “Faith logic, almost as good as Nana logic.”

“That stings,” Faith replied. “I’m not Nana.”

“Bloodlines,” Dani said. “It’s inevitable we all become our parents and grandparents.”

Faith shivered at the thought. “Dani downer,” she said. “Wait until you get the full version of Nana one point zero, and then tell me why I am not going down that road.”

“Where is Evie?” Amy asked, eyeing the patio doors.

True chuckled. “Well, she didn’t mate last night; we would have heard the howl.”

“But, she still has a pesky shifter stalker on her tail, so who knows, maybe he’s holding her hostage until she agrees to be his,” Hope said.

“Really?” Dani said, looking unsettled.

“No,” True said. “He’ll be wooing and annoying but not a hostage taker, especially with Jennifer there.”
