Faith smirked. “You met Amy yet?” she asked.

Parker pointed to the kitchen door. “That’s Dani, right?”

“Yeah, Amy’s very protective of Dani; they’re friends,” Faith said, chuckling to herself. If anyone was going to keep a wolf from sniffing around the door, it was Amy.

“Not yet,” Parker said.

“Parker, get your butt over here,” Drew yelled from the guesthouse.

“Work calls,” Parker said.

“Off you go,” Faith said, shoeing him away again. Then she turned on her heels and headed back inside. “Was he bugging you?”

Dani’s head went down instead of up, and Faith wondered why. “Nope, just said hello. I met him this morning.”

“When you were late this morning?” Faith asked and saw Dani grimace.

“Yep, he was playing his guitar on the porch as I left the house,” Dani said.

“Playing?” Faith frowned, and then she snapped to attention. “I’ll be back,” she called over her shoulder as she dashed out the door and into the bar. “Hope!” she yelled, stopping the witch in her tracks as she carried a tray of drinks across the room.

“Kitchen burning down?” Hope asked.

“No.”

“Dani okay?” Hope raised her eyebrows expectantly.

“Yeah,” Faith said, confused and itching to get something off her chest.

“Then work first; chat in a minute,” Hope said, carrying on with her journey.

Faith turned on her heels and spotted her sister behind the bar. She made it double quick time and slapped her palms on the counter. “True!”

“Give me a minute,” True said, pulling the perfect pint with just enough head to give the punter what they asked for and the bar a slight profit on top.

“Ugh!” Faith said, turning her back on the bar and hooking her elbows back on the counter as she eyed the room.

“What am I, chopped liver?” Amy asked, walking by. Faith slapped a hand on Amy’s arm, got a good grip and yanked her backwards. “Hey, I was kidding – unless you need a head broken, then I’m your girl.” Her smile was wide, and her eyes sparkled with glee at the thought.

“Maybe,” Faith said. “But I need someone to hear me out.”

“Go ahead; I’m all ears,” Amy said.

Faith frowned. “They are a little big, maybe wear your hair down more,” she replied.

“Oh, a witch head to break,” Amy said, scowling, and that smile was gone.

“Hark the heart’s song,” Faith hissed, looking around to ensure she couldn’t be overheard.

“Okay?” Amy looked confused.

“The riddle, cryptic clue.” Faith bit down on the excitement within her and waved that all away. “The thing the ghost said.”

“Oh,” Amy said. “Yeah, I haven’t really, you know, thought much about that.”

“You haven’t?” Faith asked, screwing up her face. “It’s all I think about.”

Amy’s eyebrows shot up. “Then you need a hobby or to get laid.”
