CHAPTER

Vitale

After I got off thephone with the Black Spade guys, the first thing I knew I needed to do was find that conniving cunt, that I knew was behind all of this. But in true Camilla fashion, that bitch of a snake slithered away before I could get my hands on her. “Did you find the bitch yet?” I asked Arnoldo.

“I'm sorry sir, none of her family or friends have seen or talked to her since last night. But I have my guys scoping out the area we lost her in last time as well as Luca's house and hangouts. We will find her.”

“You'd better. I need answers from her and, I need them now. I have to make a call so shut the door on your way out.”

“Yes, sir,” he said, leaving me alone.

Scrolling through the contacts in my phone, I found the number I needed. “Hello?”

“Constanzo, it's me. We have a problem.”

“Oh, and what would that be?”

“Did you know Lillian is still alive and was kidnapped today in Texas?”

“What?!” He roared. “Who, who would take my baby girl? And how the hell did she end up in Texas?”

Going through everything that Brice from Black Spade told me he sat silent for a moment. “So you're positive that it's Gustavo that took her?”

“I have no doubt. That's not all. I believe it was Camilla that hired him to kidnap her.”

“Mr. Gatti, I do not like these accusations you sling at my daughter, it doesn't bold well for business between you and I. Besides, do you have any proof that my daughter was involved in this?”

“To a degree yes, but I'm trying to find her now and it seems as if she’s disappeared, have you seen or talked to her?”

“My daughter, she does not always seek me out when she visits so it's been about a week since I last saw her, but I will ask my wife and get back to you.”

“Thank you. Until then do you know of any place Gustavo would have taken Lillian?”

Mr. Carbone has always been a very, very private man so he's never told me much about his personal life, but I do know of a home in Italy that he boasted about a couple years back. I also remember that he was thinking of buying some small island off the coast of Mexico, Matamoros, I believe the city was called that was close to the island he had his eye on, but I never heard if he did or not. These men of Black Spade as you call them, why didn't they return my daughter to me when they figured out who she was?”

“They informed me that since she had no memory of us she wanted to learn more about the family dealing's before she felt it was safe to return. If I'm right about Camilla, she had good reason to stay away.”

“Nonsense! She should know that her mother and I would never allow any harm to come to her.”

“And yet it did.”

“I may be getting older Mr. Gatti, but I will not tolerate being disrespected. You would do well to remember that. Now you do whatever it is you have to do to get my daughter back or I will handle things myself. And as far as my other daughter is concerned, if she was involved in Lillian being taken then I will deal with her myself. No one is going to punish anyone in my family but me or there will be consequences, do you understand what it is I am saying to you?”

“I understand you, and I will do whatever is necessary to get Lillian back, that I can promise you.”

“Good day, Mr. Gatti.” Was the last thing I heard before he hung up.

Leaning back in my chair, I stroked my chin, thinking about just how willing I was to get involved with the law bidding citizens of Black Spade. Something in the way they spoke about Lillian didn't sit well with me. Their voices had a possessive yet desperate ring to them; something a man only had when he cared for a woman. But why did they both carry that same tone? Did they both want my Lillian? “Nonsense,” I mumbled, chuckling to myself, knowing she would never consider such an arrangement. She was a virgin for Christ sake! Picking up my phone again, I decided to call them back with the bit of information I had learned and see just how good these guys really were. Then when they found her, I would make it crystal clear just where it was, she belonged.

“Hello?” he answered.

“I’ve decided that I will help you, but under one condition.”

“And what's that?”

“You will return her to me, where she belongs, when she's found.”
