CHAPTER

Gustavo

As I watched the twoof them leave the ranch, my plan to capture my new pet began to take formation. As the hours passed by, I knew I was going to need to make my move soon if I was going to do this today before they returned home. The tracking device I’d placed on their car would alert me as soon as the vehicle got a mile away from their place of business. When I spotted Lillian out back, riding around on a horse and the big bodyguard they've posted to watch over her circling out front, I knew this might be my best chance at taking her. But first I needed to locate the second man who seemed to be nothing more than a ranch hand. Finally spotting him feeding some animals by the back barn, I decided to put my plan in motion. Grabbing the phone, I had cloned to the bodyguard’s number, thanks to his phone not being as secure as I'm sure they had hoped it was, I sent Lillian a text. I told her to meet up with him on the far side of the ranch behind the older barn that looked to not to be in use anymore. After I sent the text, I watched her retrieve her phone a few moments later and look at it. I could see my plan was working when I saw her say something to the ranch hand before turning the horse and heading my way. “That's right my pet, come to me. Come to your master.” I mumbled to myself as I watch her so intensely that I could already taste her fear. Making sure the bodyguard wasn't alerted by her movement, I watched as she got closer and closer to my trap.

Looking around the area, I heard her call out to him. “Bruno! Hey, Bruno, ya big lug, where are you?” It was then I pounced. Jumping down from the slight perch I was on, I pulled her from the horse and down onto the ground. Pinning her down, I pushed the needle into her neck, causing her fight against me to weaken. Seeing the horse take off, I knew it was only a matter of time before it made its way back into their sights, finding her missing from it. I picked her limp body up, threw her over my shoulder and ran as fast as I could to the SUV, I’d parked just a half mile outside the property lines. Quickly opening the back door, I quickly shoved her inside and then ran around to get in the driver’s seat, racing away with my new pet. “You’re all mine now.” I grinned.

Brice

When we got to theoffice this morning, we both did our usual duties as we did every day. Hanging up with a client, I was talking to, Vance busted into my office. “We have a problem.”

“What is it?” I asked, standing up and praying it had nothing to do with Lily.

“A tracking device was found on our car during the daily security sweep just now.”

“What?! Do we know who put it there yet? or who's receiving the signal from it?”

“Kelan's on it now.”

“And Lily, did you call Bruno yet?”

“Yes. I'm waiting for a call back. He said she was out back with Mack just before he was making his rounds to the front of the house.”

Letting out a breath of relief that he had eyes on her recently, I began to calm down. “How long until Kelan knows something?”

“He said ten maybe fifteen minutes.” Vance got out just before his phone rang.

“Bruno, what do you have for me?” A look of sheer panic like I'd never seen on him before took over his features as he shouted out. “Fuuuuuuck!” Throwing his phone against the wall, it instantly shattered it into bits.

“She's gone! We have to get home now!” He said before we both rushed out of my office and down to the car. Breaking every speed law posted he filled me in on how supposedly Lily had gotten a text from Bruno to meet her by the old barn out back and about the mare returning without her on it, alerting Mack that something was wrong.

“Did they check the area by the barn?” I questioned.

“They were headed there when he hung up.” Hearing my phone go off, he hit the speaker button in the car that both of our phones were synced to. “Kelan, what did you find out?”

“The signal was going to an unknown source, but the source was pinpointed to your ranch.” Looking over at Vance, I saw the same look in his eyes I knew was in mine.

Fear.

Fear that Gustavo had gotten a hold of our precious Lily. I couldn't even begin to describe the gut-wrenching pain you felt when you knew that someone you loved was in the hands of a monster like Gustavo. Yes, I said love because I knew we had both fallen for her the minute we laid eyes on her. “Have you tried tracing Lily's phone yet?”

“Already done, but the signal is weak. The last location I have on it before it went out of range is ten miles south of your place, headed in the direction of Hillsboro.”

“We’re headed that way now. Let us know if you get any other signals from her phone.”

“Will do brother... and I'm sorry I didn't see this coming. I should have made sure no one was able to clone one of our phones. Before this is over, I can promise you that something like this will never happen again.” Kelan assured us with an irritated tone, knowing someone got past his security and to Lily because of it. That shit he took very seriously.

“I know you'll do everything you can to help. Call us if you have anything else. And use Brice's number since I pitched my phone at the wall and shattered it when I got the call from Bruno.”

“Will do,” he said, disconnecting the call.

“Call Bruno and tell him that we are following the signal on Lily's phone, and to call your phone if they find anything.”
