As we drove along, we both sat in silence, and if I had to guess, it was because the same thing that was on my mind was on his. What if we lost Lily? How would we ever get over something like that? God this pain in my chest hurt. My phone ringing over the Bluetooth broke us both out of our own thoughts. “Yes?” Vance answered.
“Hey it's Carter, what jewelry was Lily wearing today, do you know?”
Both Vance and I exchanged looks with one another. “I think a watch and maybe earrings, why?”
“Hey there you are, check the tracking device I had assigned to my last charge.” We heard Carter talking to who we assumed to be Kelan. “I gave Lily a silver ring I had for my last charge, she saw it on my desk one morning and asked about it. I figured what the hell and told her she could have it since she liked it so much. So I'm going to have Kelan see if he can find it. There's no way Gustavo or whoever took her would think that a plain silver ring had a small GPS tracking device inside of it, it was the main reason I had it made.”
“Brother you are a fucking genius!” I yelled at him, wondering why the hell Vance and I hadn't thought about having more than her phone hooked up with a GPS tracking device.
“Kelan wanted me to tell you that the phone signal has been stopped in Waco now for over twenty minutes, so either he's tossed the phone or he's stopped there for some reason.”
