Agent Larson
(An Hour Earlier Before His Call to Vance)
Getting out of thevehicle, Walker and I searched around the outside parameter of the warehouse for any movement. My men had spotted two individuals that had arrived earlier and had them locked down inside, waiting for us. As we opened the door and walk inside, I spotted the two suspects sitting on the floor in handcuffs. Walking over closer, I crouched down in front of them. "So, has it taken effect yet?" I asked, looking up at one of the Agents, who stood behind the men on the floor.
"I wanted to wait until you two got here and give you first crack at them since it was your lives they were trying to fuck up."
I give him a chin lift. "Thank you." Then I redirect my attention to the two men. "Who sent you here to try and kill us?"
The first man started speaking in Spanish about how they would be killed if they said anything, but then his partner blurted out. "Luciano!"
"Ah, now we're getting somewhere." I shifted my attention to the other man as the first man started cursing him out in Spanish, telling him that he just signed their death warrants. Motioning to one of the Agents, they picked the first man up and dragged him away kicking and screaming. "I'd say that the sodium Pentothal is affecting you much more than your friend there, so tell, me who is working with your boss, Luciano?"
"I-I do not know his name, all you Government types look the same to me."
Glaring at the man for a moment, I held up a picture that I’d retrieved out of my pocket. "Is this the man? Do you know him?"
He quickly nodded his head. "Yes, yes that's him. That's the man I've seen him talk to."
Pulling out another photo of Keira, I asked. "Do you recognize this woman?"
Looking at it for a few moments. "Yes, she's that woman they're trying to find. She knows something she's not supposed to."
"What are they going to do with her when they find her?"
"Sell her to the highest bidder," the man shrugged his shoulders like selling a human life was nothing to him.
Standing up, I clenched my fists so I didn't punch him in the face as I walked my anger off and thought about my niece, who had been sold like a piece of property before we found her. Taking a cleansing breath, I turned to walk back over to him. "Are you okay?" Agent Walker asked me.
"I'm fine," I waved him off, not wanting to show any sign of weakness in front of this piece of shit sitting before me. Standing in front of him again, I asked. "Where will she be sold at?"
"Underground tunnel. No one knows it’s there." As the last word left his mouth a shot broke through a window, finding its target in the man's chest. We all ran for cover as more shots started to ring out throughout the building. Getting on my radio, I spoke with the snipers we had posted outside. "Shots fired! Shots fired from the south side!"
After a few moments one of them called back. "Shooter is down. I repeat shooter is down."
"Fuck!" I yelled, seeing the man I was talking to dead before me. Looking over at where the other suspect had been sitting, I could see that he, too, was lying on the ground as one of my Agents rolled around in pain from a gunshot to his side. "Call an ambulance! Is the other suspect alive?" One of my men checked for a pulse on his neck but shook his head no. "Shit! I was so fucking close!"
"At least we know we are on the right track," Agent Walker said. "Now we just need to make the arrests."
Thinking for a moment, I told him. "No, we can't. Not yet. We can't disrupt any of the plans they have. If they find out that we’re on to them they will just change course and we will be shit out of luck, no I've got another idea." Looking around the building, I instruct my men. “Get everyone out of here but leave the two bodies behind."
"What are you doing?"
I turned to Agent Walker. "I'm going to burn it to the ground and then you and I are going to die."
"Wait, what?" Walker asked, confusion written all over his face.
Looking at another Agent I told him, "Make the call as soon as this place is up in flames."
Then I turned back around to look at Agent Walker. "Come on I'll explain everything on the plane." We both rushed out of the back side of the building to the awaiting SUV.
