Mr. X
My phone ringing inthe middle of the night again woke me up. Reaching over for it, I saw the caller ID and knew something was wrong.
Shit!
Moving into my office and shutting the door behind me I answered. "What's happened?
"She got away, Sir."
"God dammit! How?"
"When we took her back to her place to get some medication and clothes she needed, she went into the bedroom to change and never came back out. We went in to look for her, but she was gone. Apparently, she’d cut through the bathroom to the laundry room and went out the maid’s entrance. I ran down the stairs after her, but by time I got to the ground level she had disappeared. I believe it was Jensen who was waiting for her."
"Shit, this isn't good. We need to find her and do it quickly! I'm going to call Luciano and see if he had his man tracking her and knows where she’s headed. But you need to get a hold of all our contacts in Wyoming and Texas, tell them to keep an eye out for them and have our guys call you as soon as they are spotted, do you hear me? Alert the airports, train, and bus stations as well. I know Porter is smarter than that but do it anyway."
"Yes Sir, I'm sorry, I had no idea there was an escape route to the stairs I..."
"What's done is done." I cut him off. "But you know as well as I do, our lives depend on getting her back. So get your ass out there and find her."
"Yes, Sir."
After I disconnected our call, I pull up Luciano's number. "Yes." Was all he offered when he answered the phone.
"Do you have a location on Watson's daughter?"
"My man is parked outside her penthouse right now, said she went in about an hour ago with two FBI Agents and hasn't come out since, why?"
"Shit! She's gone. One of my guys told me that she went out the servant’s entrance and disappeared."
"What?!" He roared.
"I have my guy on it now, he’s searching all the locations he might have taken her to."
"Am I to assume you are referring to Mr. Jensen?"
"Unfortunately yes, we believe he is responsible for her disappearance."
He let out a chilling chuckle. "You weren't kidding when you said he was trouble, were you? I'm going to call my guy right now and inform him of his mistake. Meanwhile, if your guy locates them first, I want you to call me right away and I’ll do the same. I'm sure I don't need to remind you of the importance of making sure she never talks."
"No. Trust me, it's very clear why they both need to go."
"Good." Once our call disconnected, I poured myself two fingers of scotch, downing it in one gulp. "With Jensen in the picture I'm going to end up dying of cirrhosis of the liver before this is over." I mumbled to myself.
