CHAPTER

Porter

As I followed themback to her penthouse, I placed a call to the one person I knew could help me make Keira disappear. "Hey, how are things going out on the ranch?" Vance asked.

"Not too good man, I'm not at the ranch."

"Wait, what? What's going on?"

After explaining everything to him and telling him what I had planned, he assured me that he was going to be on the next flight out to meet up with us without me even having to ask. "You know I'm there for you, but I won't be able to bring the others with me. Hudson's on a trip to Fiji with Presley, Carter and Brice are on assignment in Asia for another week, and I need Kelan here to man the whole operation while we're all gone. But as soon as Carter and Brice touch down, if we need them you know they'll be there to help, too."

"All I need is you here to help me make Keira disappear for awhile and keep her safe until this all either blows over or comes to the ugly head I think it's going to. By that time, the guys will be back if we need their help."

"I'm packing up to leave now. I'll text you with my flight information when I know it."

"Sounds good, see you soon, brother."

As I sat in the alley waiting for Keira to come down, I made another call to set my plan to hide her in motion, and then search the GPS for the best route to take as well as hotels to stay at along the way.

A few minutes later I received a text from Vance on his flight information. When I was in the middle of texting him back where to meet up, my passenger side truck door suddenly swung open and Keira jumped in. "Hurry, lets get out of here! I can’t be sure, but I think Agent Jackson was following me down the stairs, it was just an eerie feeling I got."

"Then let's get the hell out of here now." Hitting the gas, we sped off into the night and away from this world she's called her life for so long.

DRIVING ALONG, I NOTICEDthat Keira wasn’t really saying much. "Is everything okay? Nothing happened up there, did it?"

"No, nothing happened. I was just thinking that if Agent Walker doesn't trust Agent Jackson why did he go along with this whole thing in the first place? Why not just turn him in?"

"Maybe it's just a gut feeling, and he doesn't really have anything solid to go on, or..."

She turned towards me. "Or what?"

"Or he doesn't trust someone in FBI."

"Do you really think... oh who the hell am I kidding, everyone is corrupt in Washington."

I couldn’t help but chuckle at her comment. "Maybe not everyone, but I'd say about ninety percent are."

"So, what's the plan? Where are we going to go? We can't go to your ranch because that's the first place they'll search for us."

"Don't you worry about a thing over there. I've got a great hiding spot I'm taking you to, and I've called in some back up. In fact, he's boarding a flight right now to meet up with us in Columbus, Ohio."

"Who is?"

Looking over at her, I was curious to see the reaction she had to his name after what I told her about him all those years ago. How he was the only man I would ever trust enough to share her with, if she should ever want to make her ménage fantasy come to life. "My Army brother I told you about, Vance Martinez with Black Spade Securities."

A blush began to creep over her cheeks as the name and what she knew about him started to settle in. "Oh." Was her only response.

"Oh?" I asked with a chuckle.

"Yeah, isn't he your one friend that you... ah... told me about?"

"Yes, he is. But don't worry, Vance is incredibly good at what he does, he will protect you with his life, just as I will."

Sitting there quiet for a moment, she finally asked. "What does he know about me exactly? You didn't tell him about my... well, that thing you know I told you about, did you?"

I looked over at her. "You mean did I tell him about your ménage fantasy, and that he was the only one I trusted to make that happen for you?"

Swallowing slowly, she nodded her head. "Yeah, that."

"Of course not, there’s been no reason to. And unless there ever is, I would never tell him or anyone for that matter about the intimate things we do or discuss."

She lets out a sigh relief. "I know you wouldn't, it's just my usual knee jerk reaction to protect information about myself getting out. What can I say, old habits die hard. But I do know you would never tell anyone anything I've ever told or done with you in private."

When I glanced over at her again, I could see her eyes drooping as she struggled to stay awake, and after the stressful day she's endured, she needed to get some sleep. "Why don't you get some rest. I'll wake you when we arrive at the hotel were going to stay at for the night."

"Okay, I am a little tired." She curled up in her seat and shut her eyes.
